RPG Evolution: My First In-Person D&D Session

That library room looks lovely! I tend to go to organized play when I do public. A lot of that has to do with folks being new, or not able to commit regularly. There is also the my rule zero which is never start a long campaign with folks I dont know. So, organized play is a way for me to...

Keeping Track of Time (In Game)

I dont mind mechanical shifts like the Android example, but its really important that everyone understands how they work. I think the real obstacle is GMs introducing these concepts into games that dont have them. Im not saying you shouldnt, but its important to discuss them ahead of time to...

Your first RPG purchase, in pictures

I got several AD&D and 2E gifts as a kid. I didnt really get into things until 3E though and my first personal purchase was the core rulebook trio pack.

The oldest tech you still use

Speakers are pretty resilient. I know a guy that takes old laptops and I was surprised to find he pulls the sound bar out of all of them and its the most recycled part of his business.

Sunday Chat: What New Editions Were Upgrades? Which Ones Were Downgrades?

Mongoose Traveller was a nice reprint of classic Traveller with a few updates. Mongoose 2E Traveller was just loads of better stuff. From chargen to ship combat, while keeping (IMO) the spirit of the game well intact. PF1 from 3E was an upgrade. I liked a lot of the stuff Paizo put out and it...

    Life path system in-game

I kinda vibe with this. I definitely find out my character through play. However, I always viewed lifepath as an organic way of developing a backstory that delivers where the character has been and why they possess the skillset they have. It doesnt prevent me from developing the concept into a...

    Life path system in-game

The Traveller system introduces PCs to each other from college into their careers. Going all the way back to childhood is interesting. Traveller does it by being pretty vague instead of descriptive. I often make it more specific for my own campaigns and fill in the blanks. Im thinking instead...
