I think DH PCs are meant to succeed a lot (and I prefer it this way) because "with fear" is still a drama inducing factor regardless of raw success.

Yeah, I was trying to avoid any convoluted rules but wanted to avoid 1 HP wonkiness. As to "cleave" I think my main fighter PC relies on that a lot using Weapon Masteries and I don't want to obviate it by giving it away free to everyone.

I started DOS2 at the end of the year and am still plugging away at it. I had to drop to Explorer mode, and I am running with 2 "lone wolf" characters instead of the party of 4.

Right, so if 20 sessions is the target, I don't think it is hard to hold together a "player driven campaign" for that length of time. But D&D campaigns tend to run significantly longer (50 or 60 sessions, or more) and it is, in my experience, harder to maintain that player driven aspect over...

In tonight's session, it is very likely that the PCs (11th level) are going to end up fighting A LOT of Knights of the Realm and their commander. The Commander is a Legendary character and rides of stone golem horse, but I want the PCs to feel awesome so I am planning on making her soldiers...
