    I might wait 3 years for v.4.5

I think the news of 4E's release is great but I still haven't made a dent in my 3E games. I'll definitely wait 12 months after release before I buy 4E but I'm thinking I could just as well wait for v.4.5 in a couple of years time. 3E was out only 3 years before they put out 3.5. Maybe it would...

Stats for the Circle of Eight?

Thanks grodog. In fact, LJ#0 mentions the Citadel of Eight as a precurser to the Circle of Eight. So, at least canon GH hasn't dismissed them. It sounds like they were Mordy's adventuring companions/henchmen before he settled down to create the Circle of Eight. Wow. All those "-iggby" names...

Planescape now that other settings have their own cosmology

Yeah, I'll have to read my copy of DL Adventures again but I've heard from some that this book marked the first reference to the Dome of Creation cosmology.

Planescape now that other settings have their own cosmology

Yes, I think FR is suited to the Great Wheel - even more so than Greyhawk. But the designers definitely seemed to want to make it "different" and made a concerted effort to make it less "generic" D&D.

Stats for the Circle of Eight?

Apparently the Circle of Eight from Gygax's home campaign varied to TSR's. I don't know if anyone has ever statted these up for 3E though . . .

Planescape now that other settings have their own cosmology

I think in 1E DL was set in the Dome of Creation and then put into the Great Wheel during 2E. Then with 3E, it was returned to the Dome of Creation.

Planescape now that other settings have their own cosmology

If a berk's belief is strong enough then a whole mass of 'em believing the same thing can move planes. Belief is power. If the clueless primes believed strong enough that their prime was the Great Tree, Great Wheel or Great Bowl of Pasta then maybe their belief could make it so. ;)

Planescape now that other settings have their own cosmology

I was just wondering how Planescape fans have reconciled with the fact that other campaign settings (such as FR and DL) are now contained within their own cosmologies. Have fans kept those settings as part of the Great Wheel? Or, have fans caused some world-shaking event in their campaigns that...

Using Ptolus without the Machines and Chaositech

Thanks folks. It sounds like I should pick it up then. I love Monte Cook's work . . . it's just that this one was a big investment. :)

Using Ptolus without the Machines and Chaositech

I haven't picked up a copy of "Ptolus: City by the Spire" yet but I understand a fair bit of a "steampunk" influence underpins the setting in the form of machines and chaositech. Now, this all sounds great - all very creative and a fresh change from standard fantasy - but the problem is: If I...

Gates of Firestorm Peak: How many fold-out maps did this come with?

I just picked up a copy of Gate of Firestorm Peak and was wondering how many fold-out maps originally came with it. The back blurb says "4 full-color poster maps". My copy came with 2 fold-out maps but they are double-sided maps . . . which I guess could mean 4 maps? If you bought this module...

More Cunning Riddles for White Plume Mountain

Well, I ran the session yesterday and all went well. Most of us guessed each others' riddles (at least after a clue being offered after an INT check). I ended up using a bunch of riddles I found with a google search for "D&D riddles". My players threw a few riddles at me (the sphinx) and they...

More Cunning Riddles for White Plume Mountain

    Perhaps "A God, A Half-Man, A Land. What am I?" (Ans.: Iuz) . . . due to the fact that he's half-fiend/half-human? :)

Do hitpoints stay the same when you Polymorph?

Thanks. :) What about saving throws? Do they stay the same? The PHB says you get the STR, DEX and CON of the creature you assume. Do the bonuses of these apply to your stats (like saving throws)? Thanks!

Do hitpoints stay the same when you Polymorph?

I just wanted to know if hps stayed the same when you polymorph. The PHB says you get the CON of the creature you polymorph into so, by rights, your hps should be altered accordingly shouldn't they? Thanks :)

More Cunning Riddles for White Plume Mountain

The last session ended just at this point. So, out of play the players have had the opportunity to come up with a couple of riddles. It's a bit of light-hearted fun to start off the next session otherwise, yes, it's just a treasure for info swap. I intend the sphinx to give the player's fairly...

More Cunning Riddles for White Plume Mountain

I'm running White Plume Mountain and one of the PCs has challenged the sphinx at the entrance to a riddle match in order to extract information from her. Basically, if she can't answer the PC's riddle, she'll have to give him info on the inhabitants of the mountain. Then it's the sphinx's...
