    Starting new Brindlewood Bay campaign

Hell yeah. I'm starting a game of The Between soon, another Carved from Brindlewood game, and I cannot WAIT.

    Death of Player Characters

Disregarding authority or whatever, it's a very weird argumentative tactic to declare that all RPGs are about combat and then reject all evidence to the contrary.

    Death of Player Characters

Coolest and most interesting character death is when it just happens to be the most dramatically fulfilling thing that can happen. Love when death is a player choice.

Trailer Sid Meier’s Civilization VII - Gameplay Reveal Trailer

7 looks so damn good. Excited to see them trying new things.

Players Don't Care About Your Setting

I have absolutely zero interest in unilaterally designing a setting as a GM. I tried, it was boring. Now we all make the settings up as a group, let things change or develop as necessary, and bam, everyone is more engaged, one person doesn't need to take on the role of Designing Everything...

Dungeon World Gets New Owners, Second Edition Planned

Kickstarter community head quits, apologizes for controversial RPG project Considering the last time Luke told a bunch of people that Koebel was 100% definitely not involved in something.... not much confidence in the project here!

D&D General Huge Equipment Lists: Good, Bad, or Ugly?

I think even in games where they work fine, they're definitely ugly. Such an ordeal to sift through.

What is a "Light" RPG? What is a "Crunchy" RPG?

You can walk across the frozen water because you can walk across frozen water. Why would there NEED to be a rule about that? It's like making a rule about how you can't get nutrition by eating rocks.

Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive TTRPG Makes $1M In Under An Hour

People basically only ever talk about the video game-type magic system when they discuss his books. I'd read a billion posts about how cool his magic was for years and it took physically picking up a copy of Mistborn to learn that it's a heist story about a wizard dude named Kelsier. People...

Paizo Announces Upcoming Projects in Gen Con 2024 Keynote

They're hoping to get it out like the remastered Beginner's Box afaik - an update to the PDF without having to make people buy the second one.

Triangle Agency Saves The World One TPS Report At A Time

The Delta Test was soooo cool. Can't wait to pick up the final release when I've got the spare cash.

    Draw Steel the MCDM RPG!

Really boring name, but at least it's not named after himself I guess? This really does make it sound like it's a game about like, Errol Flynn style swashbuckling or arena combat, and not at all the General DnD-esque Gameplay Milieu that it is.

    D&D General Player-generated fiction in D&D

A good example of how this really does just mostly come down to pure opinion - for me and my players, this helps us get more invested in everything!

Spells: do you prefer Rotes or Dynamic?

The less big-ass lists in a game book, the better. The best magic "systems" are where you just do whatever it is you're doing and say it's magic-related.

Is there any genre or theme that the TTRPG medium does not work for?

There's plenty of great sports RPGs. Full Court is a thing of beauty, Gravity RIP has the best racing mechanics I've ever seen. Also, yes, RPGs, being fiction, are hard to make non-fiction (which is not a genre).

How Accommodating to Player Preferences Should the GM Be?

Yeah, god forbid people in a group support each other, huh? Good thing that's not the foundation of society or anything.

How Accommodating to Player Preferences Should the GM Be?

Yeah, most people are in fact able to able to have normal conversations with other people. I hope you can learn to do the same one day.

How Accommodating to Player Preferences Should the GM Be?

This still does not answer why you would rather insult anyone who isn't fitting your preconceived notions rather than having a mature conversation with them and perhaps coming to a compromise that makes you both happy, or perhaps understand them better. This seems like a pretty basic step of the...

How Accommodating to Player Preferences Should the GM Be?

You clearly like these "egotistical snowflakes" you claim to have so much experience with enough to have invited them to the game in the first place.I'm not sure why you would call your friends something like this. But also... yeah, that's why you have a mature conversation with that person...

How Accommodating to Player Preferences Should the GM Be?

Yes, the GM, as a player, is responsible for player gratification. So are all the other players at the table. Everyone in the group is responsible for having fun.
