Fair, got the term wrong, but I'm happy the sentiment is accurate.

You're seeing the difference a good reputation makes as opposed to a sleazy one, and that the people in the know can see signs that they're telling the truth (most of the revised classes being part of errata we were told was coming for the APG, the others being necessary for the alignment...

Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder To Get New Core Rulebooks Soon

I'm long-winded but "That statement is referring to the system itself, this is about product identity" would have sufficed. Also, because this is a pet peeve of mine, you don't represent some kind of baseline that suggests anything meaningful about things you don't understand, that's just a...

Ok, I understand where you're getting a bit lost: They aren't doing this to "avoid the copyrighted game expression of any mechanics" which that statement concerned the system itself, it's the product identity that's the problem-- Pathfinder 2e does not use any copy-written mechanics of any...

Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder To Get New Core Rulebooks Soon

I mean, it's a lot of small changes to a system they've been working on for the past few years-- they have our feedback from the existing versions of everything they're revising and most of the meaningful changes are more like taking the opportunity to iterate than they are because the OGL...

Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder To Get New Core Rulebooks Soon

I enjoy it, you take on the role of Dragons who use a special ritual-- in the short term it drops their power to level 1 adventurer level, including turning off some of their natural abilities, but in allows them to grow their power at turbo speed instead of hundreds of years. You buy their...

Treasure Vault has the variant crafting, which offers options that 'fix' some concerns people had (they also talk about the rationale for why you might stick with the basic one.)

The Lost Omens Books are generically full of more lore than rules, and there's a fairly wide and thematic selection, all Golarion lore. Firebrands/Knights/Absalom are all niche but great deep dives into certain kinds of organizations/a whole city, Gods and Magic is more broad with some good lore...

Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder To Get New Core Rulebooks Soon

Here's my collection of books from my Paizo subscriptions that I've only physically used once for a short-lived Malevolence game, to play we mostly use the complementary pdfs from the subs, Pathbuilder, Foundry, and AON depending on what's intuitive at the moment. I would absolutely drop it if...

Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder To Get New Core Rulebooks Soon

I think the reason is that while in theory Paizo is in the publishing business, the product we actually buy from them is crunchy, customizable, rules content. The more the playerbase accepts that digital is pragmatically a better way to deliver that content, due to errata and tool support, the...

Specifically, it sounds like we just found out why there wasn't an announced rulebook line item for fall 2023, it must've been pushed back, so they could focus on getting this out.

"This morning, at the annual GAMA EXPO game industry trade show, Paizo publisher Erik Mona unveiled the sketches of the just-announced Pathfinder Player Core and Pathfinder GM Core hardcovers to hobby game retailers and distributors. We will update the product pages for the new books when the...

Yeah .5 rounded down works for me, I was thinking it's not unlike what Chronicles of Darkness does with beats, which is what I've been reading lately-- you'd collect boosts and then spend them when you have enough to buy the stat you want, though maybe that's a little unintuitive to keep them...

Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder To Get New Core Rulebooks Soon

I watched the stream, apparently (to quote directly) there's a plan in place for that, where the underlying math remains the same, but they haven't told us what it is. Maybe you just track the boosts separately, and then they become a modifier increase when you have enough?

Sans the alignment change, that does read as minor to me- i have the wizard and rogue thing sitting in a 2 sentence houserule. A few monsters and spells are getting rennamed or replaced. That is very little and could be an errata. The alignment shift is the big ticket item.

They mentioned on stream the class changes are mostly the ones on the errata slate for this year.

Thinking About the Purpose of Mechanics from a Neo-Trad Perspective

I don't think I would accept that definition of Neo-Trad in the slightest, it seems constructed to make play undesirable, and it occurs to me that some people do want a degree of struggle in their arcs, they just want the arc itself to exist and take center stage in the story-- their urge...
