    D&D 5E (2024) 4e design in 5.5e ?

well I don't know what i don't know really. I get that some monsters had new changes that came about when they were bloodied. What's some examples of those that people liked? Did any have ones that would activate on death? Apart from notation was there any big changes to some spells? And I've...

    D&D 5E (2024) 4e design in 5.5e ?

Why has this turned into another ability score generation thread? Up to this point I've been learning some interesting things about 4e.

What would you pay for a book?

Yeah i just paid USD25 for the roll20 tales from the loop module. I already own the hardcover and pdf, but it has preloaded all the handouts, art, maps and the like for the approx 5 sessions in the core book mini campaign. That's 5USD a session for what's saved me hours of snipping, uploading...

    Big book or multiple smaller?

I'm a big fan of Into the Unknown's old school 5 booklet approach, so you definately get the 2 books answer from me. If it's separated in pdf format i'm good with that too, as long as the book separations make sense. Give me one book with character options and rules to play, another for...

    D&D 5E (2014) Eight Abilities (Str-Con, Dex-Ath, Int-Per, Cha-Wis)

@Yaarel i havent followed this thread very closely. How do you handle the pairings of attributes and skills? Skills are interesting to me in 5e as they strike me as one of the most modular components of 5e. Changing abilities has effects on various class abilities and can make modifying them...

    D&D 5E (2014) Eight Abilities (Str-Con, Dex-Ath, Int-Per, Cha-Wis)

I jury rigged a variant for 5e without ability scores and posted it somewhere on the forum.. From memory you just double your proficiency bonus. Expertise adds +2 to a skill. The math is a bit underpowered vs base but it's pretty close. Not terribly exciting for some people though, although if...

What would you pay for a book?

For me: A) i buy adventures in PDF only B) AUD80 C) i wouldn't buy a rulebook this size, but maybe AUD100 if i really wanted it D) around AUD25/30

D&D 5E (2014) Why are non-caster Ranger themes so popular?

I'd prefer the option to play a spellless ranger and have a magic based sub class a la fighter and rogue class structure. It's much easier to add in than take out.

D&D 5E (2014) Why are non-caster Ranger themes so popular?

This is it for me. Why do so many things in D&D have to be a spell? The rogues sneak attack isn't a spell, so why is hunter's mark?

D&D 5E (2014) Block, Dodge, and Armor as DR

I've tried to tinker with alternate armour rules in D&D, but it's a huge amount of work. Once you get into adjusting damage and hit points for everything you're really getting into new system territory. I'd prefer to play something that has DR baked in, like witcher. It uses fairly static HP...

    D&D 5E (2024) 4e design in 5.5e ?

Yes effectively. But I'm also giving them three rounds/sequential saves. A one save or die feels a little too harsh for me. Guess I'm a softie.

    D&D 5E (2024) 4e design in 5.5e ?

I never played 4e, but everything I read about monster design (except hit point bloat) sounds like much more how I like to run my games (and play in them). Especially for a game that is as combat focused as D&D, it seems a shame to me that monsters don't have more distinctive abilities to help...

    D&D 5E (2024) 4e design in 5.5e ?

You just made me realise how interesting doing death saves like this could be. 1st death save you roll 3d20 and if any is over 10 you live. 2nd death save you roll 2d20. After that 1d20. Hmm... i think i like it!

Sean K. Reynolds talks RPG salaries, puts his on record.

This is it. For various reasons consumers aren't willing to spend a lot on RPG books. Combine that with a much lower number of purchases compared to other media types and there's just little in the way of revenue going around in which to pay people. The only way the industry will change is if...

Audit is nktorious for paying their grads low salaries as the understanding is that it leads to higher than average wages. The big4 engines are driven on this. So it's not a fair basis for comparison for other professions. I entered accounting in the commercial world and started with double...

Free League Announces Blade Runner TTRPG for 2022

@ART! To answer your questio n the systems use a simple dice pool - attribute + skill + modifiers x d6. Count 6s for success, extras buy stunts. You are normally allowed to reroll your dice once, and this is where they add most of the theme into the game. In Mutant Year Zero you character...
