Critical Role Critical Role’s 7-hour Campaign Finale

No. Me too. I love seeing some of the shorts, Sam's advert intros, matt's NPCs, etc, but the sessions are a huge time investment even as a podcast. I'd love a 20 minute per session edited highlight

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Screen & Dungeon Kit

Yeah it's a shame. It could potentially improve the quality of the information included however as it would force wotc to do some market research in the area. Of course, they're not going to volunteer to take up that extra cost.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Screen & Dungeon Kit

What's happening me back from buying a d&d screen is that they never show what tables they're including on the inside. I'd be much more tempted if I knew exactly what I was buying.

    D&D General [+] TRAPS! a positive thread

One of the most devious traps I encountered was you find a young beautiful woman. She marries you and then owns you for the rest of your life...

    What Do Elves Eat, Anyway?

I think the tolkienesque paradigm that elves wouldn't eat meat is pretty naive. A healthy ecosystem requires a balance, and for example if there was a fox overpopulation decimating the local fauna, I'm sure the elves would see wisdom of a culling to protect the balance. And because they...

D&D 5E (2014) Are humanoid mono-cultures being replaced with the Rule of Three?

Just a shame to be having this argument again. It never resolves anything and the heat it generates just accelerates global warming. Or something.

    D&D 5E (2014) On capstone class features

Without a rewrite of abilities I'd say that all features and abilities can be used at will. Unlimited rages, second winds, 9th level spells you name it. There's no challenge left in the world, but you can battle a deity and if you win you become a God.

D&D 5E (2014) Are humanoid mono-cultures being replaced with the Rule of Three?

It's safe to say that the OP's thread has been derailed so much that it's now in another continent.

D&D 5E (2014) Are humanoid mono-cultures being replaced with the Rule of Three?

I wrote and posted up a short document here a while ago separating ancestry and culture. I think there's a false equivalence that everyone from one ethnicity must be the same. Plus, it's boring. I want to play an elf that grew up in a barbarian tribe, or a dwarf among a forest elf community, or...

Into the Mother Lands: A Sci-fi RPG by PoC Designers

Totally. Not expecting real world history. But using an inspiration from a source I'm unfamiliar with has the potential to be a fresh take in my mind.

Into the Mother Lands: A Sci-fi RPG by PoC Designers

I'd love to see more cultures used for inspiration in RPGs, as there's so much I don't know. As a white Australian, I've grown up knowing very little about African cultures. An RPG based on some of these has the real potential to be new and exciting exciting me. I do sit in the camp however of...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Should Have Less HP Bloat

A hidden (at least to me) benefit of less HP bloat however, is that encounter balance becomes less sensitive. I'm running a campaign in Shadow of the Demon Lord where the HP levels are more restrained and the encounters the players have faced seem to be challenging most of the time, even for...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Should Have Less HP Bloat

Easiest solution seems to be a campaign I'm playing in where the monsters do max damage on a hit. We don't do max on ours because we're a big group and tend to hit pretty hard, but you could do that as well. For us it works brilliantly. Currently level 18 and we still regularly get hit to 0 in...

D&D 5E (2014) D&D Magic the Gathering alternate magic system

I thought about that. I also thought about how central summoning is to M:tG. So I incorporated it as a high level and are leaving most creatures to be monsters to fight. I like the idea of characters battling with these monsters as they learn, only to summon them to do their will when they...

D&D 5E (2014) D&D Magic the Gathering alternate magic system

Yeah. I wanted to have an AoE effect that had a fixed damage and increased area with upcasting and another with a fixed area and upscaled damage for variety. I'm just going to try and populate the spell list first and then do some adjusting passes. I'm going to aim for approx 8-10 per level...

D&D 5E (2014) D&D Magic the Gathering alternate magic system

WARNING: Wall of text below. Tl;dr is I have attached a very early draft of a Magic: the Gathering Planeswalker apprentice class and spellbook. This is something I'll be working on every now and then in my spare time. Suggestions welcome. I've been doing some thinking and playing around this...

D&D 5E (2014) What Sort Of Income For Commoners To Get A Coherent Economy?

Won't get into an argument about it. However it appears that most of Europe was regularly using coins for many transactions much earlier than people think, and much earlier than the level of technology d&d implies.

D&D 5E (2014) What Sort Of Income For Commoners To Get A Coherent Economy?

That's largely a myth. In England, the Pound Sterling was adopted as a physical currency back in the 8th century or so, when it was the worth of a pound of silver (hence the "sterling" part). Early pennies and shillings were minted and commonly used from the 12th century onwards for anything...
