    D&D 5E (2024) What form might subclasses take in 1DnD? (+)

I want a short-rest based full caster class.

Dragonlance Do you plan to buy Dragonlance?

I'm going to be very interested in leaks about this product. I enjoyed the original Dragonlance but I absolutely hated all the changes they made. Indeed, my preferred time period for adventuring in Krynn would be between the founding of the Solamnic Knights and the first War of the Lance.

D&D 5E (2014) Line or Cone, why aren't there any breath weapons with a Burst Area of Effect?

This is your excuse to create a cool monster with such a breath weapon!

D&D 5E (2014) Have you ever seen these weapons used regularly by PC's in a D&D 5e game?

I think you need to consider the technology level of the campaign. In a Roman or Migration Period campaign you're not going to see greatswords because they're beyond the technology of the time, but greataxes are not. And you're not going to see full plate armour either, and because of that...

D&D 5E (2014) Heat Metal Spell. Unfair to Heavy Armor Wearers?

Of attack spells, Meteor Swarm has, I think, the longest range of 1 mile.

D&D 5E (2014) Heat Metal Spell. Unfair to Heavy Armor Wearers?

Right. Well, I'm binning that for attack spells that require LOS to target when I next run a game. Thanks. I think I'll refer you to the above. :)

D&D 5E (2014) Heat Metal Spell. Unfair to Heavy Armor Wearers?

Do you have a cite for that? The spell's range is 60' so surely if either the caster or the victim moves outside 60' it ceases to have effect? Sure the caster can maintain concentration in case the victim moves back inside 60'.

D&D 5E (2014) Heat Metal Spell. Unfair to Heavy Armor Wearers?

Has Ray of Frost as a possible counter been mentioned? Also, the spell in the PHB has a range of 60 feet; I would say that going outside that range would break the spell. So no casting the spell and running away. You also have to see the target so going around a corner isn't an option - without...

D&D 5E (2014) Heat Metal Spell. Unfair to Heavy Armor Wearers?

I thought that while you can Rage in heavy armour you don't gain any of the benefits?

D&D 5E (2014) What (if anything) do you find "wrong" with 5E?

    D&D General I don't think there's interest for stats below 8

IIRC there was an article in Dragon on this subject. 'So you rolled a three' or similar. Anyone care to delve through their collection?

D&D General Bringing the succubus back to town

So she escapes and disappears. Maybe they encounter her later on; maybe they don't. Or maybe you should read the Tales of Wyre... :)

    D&D 5E (2014) Monsters that attack stats

I don't have my 5E MM to hand and my curiosity has been piqued. Shadows damage Str and Intellect Devourers damage Int, but what about the other stats?

D&D 5E (2014) Re-gripping your weapon uses an object interaction?

Yes, but not when in actual use. Getting a greatsword out of its sheath was a protracted affair.

D&D 5E (2014) Can you cast an Area Damage Spell if you are under the "Hopelessness" Symbol?

I might allow this if you were at ground zero AND the spell stood a good chance of killing you. "It's hopeless; I might as well go out in a blaze of glory." The PC automatically forgoes / fails any save. If such a spell were cast so as to try and get around the rules, I'd say something along...

D&D 5E (2014) Re-gripping your weapon uses an object interaction?

Greatswords aren't sheathed. One of the defining factors of a greatsword is that it's too big for a sheath or scabbard. Rather, they're carried around unsheathed.

D&D General Does Character Lifespan Even Matter?

Way back when? Absolutely. In 1e and 2e Haste used to age you a year. Not a problem if you were an elf, but a real problem for humans and half-orcs. And Wish used to age you 5 years. I vaguely recall other spells having aging effects but those are the two which stick in my mind. Then there were...
