D&D 5E (2014) Subclass System in 5e- Too Much, Too Little, or Just Right (GOLDILOCKS POLL!)

I voted Just Right. I like the subclasses in and of itself. A solid choice that imparts a lot of flavor and crunch all in one and they are all pretty viable. I just wish we had more to pick from. A wider variety of character "types" or "builds" is a plus in my mind, and I have no problem at...

    D&D 5E (2014) Rejecting the Premise in a Module

I'm sort of experiencing this right now. My brother asked if he could run a game from a module. The last thing he tried to run was homebrew and he said he got pretty overwhelmed by it all. We ran the first few adventures and enjoyed them, but the latter half are all just 3e Slog-fest dungeon...

Pathfinder 2E Wayne Reynolds’ Cover Art for Pathfinder’s Bestiary 3

My favorite thing about Wayne Reynolds' art is that it's all traditional. I'm so used to digital art these days, when I found out everything he's done for Paizo and WotC is done on canvas I was blown away!

What's the most expensive RPG product you've bought?

The single-most expensive product I bought was the Chaosium 7th Edition Call of Cthulhu Slipcase set. I think that may have been $120? I also dropped $200 on the ROOT kickstarter, but that was to get a set of Deluxe Books and a set of Regular Books, so in my mind that's like two purchases combined.

Metaplots: the good, the bad, and the ugly.

I don't hate Meta-plots and they certainly won't stop me from using a setting, like the Forgotten Realms. Actually for the Realms I tend to make my own "Alternate Universe" at a start date of my choosing, so I can mix old and new material without having to worry about the dates of material. Some...

How long does your TTRPG gaming sessions usually last?

When we were meeting in person, the average time was about 4 hours. My Saturday group sometimes ended up going 5 or 6 as we all arrive unfashionably early, though this isn't the norm. That group has skipped Roll20 however. My Friday group played about 4, but surprisingly the move to Roll20 has...

D&D General Let's Talk About Eberron

Sorry I missed that part. Still these seem to follow the AL format so I think (though am unsure) that each book may stand on its own, with ties to connect them if you wish. And yes I would recommend Prepared and the Book of Lairs. Excellent products I've used many times.

D&D General Let's Talk About Eberron

At the risk of sounding like a broken record I'd recommend the Book of Lairs from Kobold Press. (They also have follows up like Eldritch Lairs which I don't own) They are mini dungeons that I think take about a session and are completely contained little quests. They do tie loosely to Midgard...

How often do you play a differently-gendered character when gaming?

I didn't use to understand why you would want to, but after a group that regularly played different genders as well as becoming more open-minded towards gender I changed my mind. I still have only played 1 female character and in a different group than above. No friction from my friends but...

D&D General Dungeons & Dragons Gets a My Little Pony Crossover

I think a better option would be to make MLP-D&D Minis, for all those bronies who played Ponyfider or MLP hacks/homebrews.

Voice Acting in Your Tabletop RPGs: How Much/Little?

Same. We need an 10.5 Option "As much as possible. But we all suck" or "No professionals in sight."

D&D 5E (2014) Would you let your player choose their magic items they get?

Mostly no but I'm open to suggestion. I like the idea of a magic item wish-list. I'd ask each player to make a (short) list of items they would like to see. I'll use most or all of them spread out over the whole campaign. Some might be hard to get. I'm also open to magic items if they are part...

WotC 5E 2020 Book Clue - I need your help!

The Moonsea is a wonderful little area with a lot of politics going on and perfect for a little Dark Fantasy in your Realms if you want it. I support this entirely. I believe Myth Drannor was destroyed again. At least that's what it says in the SCAG.

WotC 5E 2020 Book Clue - I need your help!

You could make a good case for both. The phrasing "series of towns" does lead one to believe its a smaller area. For example, it is unlikely to be a full-size campaign for Greyhawk. It still could be, but I imagine it is focusing on a smaller area, an individual nation or perhaps even just that...

    D&D 4E Edition Experience - Did/Do You Play 4th Edition D&D? How Was/Is it?

I started playing D&D with 4e around, 2013 or 2014? I was a senior in high school and hearing some D&D stories from my friend decided to give it a go. I didn't know anything about editions so I just went to the Comic Store to buy what they had. I wanted the Red Box Starter Set but they were...

WotC 5E 2020 Book Clue - I need your help!

Cormyr and the Dalelands are close, they could put them together in a book to cover a slightly wider area. My other thought is Greyhawk, as far as I'm aware, heraldry isn't a big as deal in FR, though some places have it. But crack open one of the Greyhawk books and one of the first pages is...

Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder Beginner Box in November

I'd get it for the pawns and the adventures alone. Maybe I can convince my 5e group to give it a trial run with this. (But not likely.)

D&D 5E (2014) Best adventure for first time DM

I would also recommend Ghosts of Saltmarsh. It goes from Level 1-12. Each adventure can stand by itself but three are actually part of a series (Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh, Danger at Dunwater & the Final Enemy) and the rest are tied together pretty well. It comes with a detailed town and a...

D&D 5E (2014) Have you actually read the 5e DMG?

I read only what I needed at a given time but since its release I've probably read the whole thing, just not cover to cover. (Sans the Magic Item descriptions) I like the world building stuff, though if you are experienced in this or already have a world it isn't that useful. Adventure creation...
