During the New England Blizzard of '78, when I was six years old, I got tossed out my second-floor kitchen window with a shovel so that I could dig out our front door...
Looking at Wikipedia, New England '78 and your Halloween blizzard were roughly equal...
Connecticut. Call it New England Black Humor. When that sort of thing happens pretty much every year, you eventually adopt one of two mental strategies to deal with it: Grit your teeth and bear it, knowing that it will end eventually, or laugh in the face of absurdity and take it as a personal...
And now I am once again clearing the damn driveway, after snowfall Friday night into Saturday morning. Less than half of what we got the last time, but still enough that I passed several accidents on the way home from work 8AM Sat. morning - a trip which took me roughly twenty minutes longer...
The key to not being stressed about this is to remind yourself that it's temporary (hell, it's fleeting) and then rub your hands together, chuckle, and smile... :D
Because you've been challenged.
This is an adventure for you and your family.
(As someone who's made it through an entire...
Got out of work on Sat. morning and my old man calls during the ride home. Needs me to come over and take him to the ER. Turns out it's just another panic attack. But, since I'm there, they're almost out of heating oil, so could I go out and dig a path around to the back of the house to the oil...
I got yelled at in a video game by a bunch of people the other day, lol...
Star Wars: The Old Republic has these things called Dynamic Encounters - they pop up on a certain schedule, and whoever's in the area can get in on them. There are usually two or three minor goals to accomplish and then...
The fact that you have one at all is fairly impressive...

Still using the original hotmail account I've had since I first got online in the early '90's...
I still have and regularly use my Campbell's Soup mug and the matched metal spoon with the red plastic handles... My mom bought them for my brother and I when they came out in 1998, and to this...
Not real big on Anime - some of the basic tropes of the genre and the aesthetics of the art style just rub me the wrong way... Which is kind of sad because I've read about some that I really might have enjoyed the premise of if they'd just had much less of the things that irked me.
Back in the day, the party was supposed to find a Staff (Staff of the Magi w/ some extra bells and whistles) and a Stone to perform a Ritual to summon the Big Bad. Being a D&D party, of course we completely skipped the section of the quest where we would have gotten the Stone that would have...
One of my feet turns out slightly farther than the other, and it has always given me problems with randomly losing my balance/kicking things/twisting my ankle/etc... I randomly fall on my arse at least three times a year.
I long ago taught myself to instantly react to any chance I may be...
On an unrelated topic...
The damn snowplow killed my mailbox during the storm last night...grrr
I briefly considered putting a post about it in the RIP thread, but that would probably be in poor taste, right?...
For those who don't know, the Stormwind Fallacy is named after a guy posting on the old WotC forums as Tempest Stormwind (irl one of the people behind Dreamscarred Press)... He was one of the main people posting in the Optimization forums and writing a lot of the more popular "class guides"...
I personally like Reaper's Liner colors for things like that - they have a flow improver mixed in already, so they work well for shading and darklining...
