New D&D Unearthed Arcana Reveals Two New Subclasses for Monk and Sorcerer, Plus Revamps For Seven More

My guess is a Darksun book first and then Artificer and Psion get a full reprint in an Everything book for a “setting agnostic” option.

New D&D Unearthed Arcana Reveals Two New Subclasses for Monk and Sorcerer, Plus Revamps For Seven More

If we remove the Eberron, Forgotten Realms, and Psion subclasses assuming those are not for an “Everything” collection book, the subclass distribution looks like this: Artificer: 1 Barbarian: 0 Bard: 1 Cleric: 2 Druid: 0 Fighter: 1 Monk: 1 Paladin: 0 Psion: 0 Ranger: 2 Rogue: 1 Sorcerer: 2...

WizKids to Release Adult Blue Dragon Figure Based on Dragon Delves

The Black and Red are adult dragons and this Blue is an ancient. Their sizes aren’t comparable. If anything, the Black and Red are fixed because the old adult dragon minis are oversized for their actual size category.

New D&D Unearthed Arcana Reveals Two New Subclasses for Monk and Sorcerer, Plus Revamps For Seven More

They did this, and the overwhelming response online was people hated it. So there’s no chance they go back now.

New D&D Unearthed Arcana Reveals Two New Subclasses for Monk and Sorcerer, Plus Revamps For Seven More

I mean, the only reprint we are getting in the FR book that was in an Everything book is Bladesinger, and that started in a FR book. Plus they likely aren’t printing any Wizards in the Everything book outside of the missing four and maybe Scribe. Meanwhile the reprints we have been seeing in...

New D&D Unearthed Arcana Reveals Two New Subclasses for Monk and Sorcerer, Plus Revamps For Seven More

Remember the Everything book will likely be a reprint of Tasha’s and Xanathar’s. It’s going to be a Monsters of the Multiverse, not a wholly new Everything product. They want to get old options updated sooner rather than later.

New D&D Unearthed Arcana Reveals Two New Subclasses for Monk and Sorcerer, Plus Revamps For Seven More

The October book just can’t be for any of these UAs. It’s too close to release. Even the Horror Subclass one was on the razors edge of print schedules. It’s far more likely the October book is either delayed or something that doesn’t require UA, like an adventure anthology or something.

New D&D Unearthed Arcana Reveals Two New Subclasses for Monk and Sorcerer, Plus Revamps For Seven More

I think this screams 2026 to me and frankly I think the Horror ones are for sure that also, at this point. My guess is these and that UA are all for the Tasha’s Xanathar’s combo book next year, but being tested in thematic bulks. Psion I still think is for something different, my guess being...

    D&D 5E (2014) Solasta 2 Announced!!!

The survey they have up for the 2024 announcement asks what people want to see as post game content and one option is “adventures in the forgotten realms.” Are they hinting that they may be getting the license for FR games?

D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

Filled out my survey. Mostly green, some yellow in places. No red. Hopefully this Psion finally breaks through.

D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

They could also just make 10 backgrounds that aren’t “backgrounds” in the traditional sense. Instead of Solider and Hermit and Merchant they could have “Backgrounds” like “Pyrokinetic” or “Empathetic” etc etc. Backgrounds in some settings don’t have to be jobs. As you said, rules are only true...

D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

We don’t think you’re crazy because Psionics don’t fit in FR. We think you’re crazy because there is simply no way for them to playtest a full class in time for a 2025 release. This isn’t a subclass where you can make minor tweaks and throw it in, this is a full base class they have to get...

D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

The panel you linked is called “the Future of the Forgotten Realms” and specifically says it will talk about what is to come for the setting in 2025. So unless the October surprise or the Psion are going to be Forgotten Realms related, this panel isn’t likely covering them.

D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

The only GenCon panel they have announced is focused on the Forgotten Realms books and on Third Party content for D&D Beyond. But they do usually do a press event the Wednesday before for some announcements.

D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

Now we just need a Wis and Int weird caster to complete the sets.

D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

Except you can’t take more than one of those feats. Wild Talents are one offs, you can’t take one if you have one.

D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

They (kinda) exist in 5e already. In Rime of the Frost Maiden.

D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

That only applies to game mechanics, not to lore. Nothing in the Spellcasting mechanics says it’s contingent on the weave existing in a setting. Spellcasting works, the weave is for the Forgotten Realms. Not D&D as a whole.

D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

I’m voting Green now and making 1000 bot accounts to vote green just to spite this post.

D&D Debuts Playtest for Psion Class

Yes, but that is very unfun for players. If your party is kidnapped, you want to be awake and able to try and overcome challenges. Including a Psion makes these effectively mute points, unless you treat them the same way you treat mages. If you have to knock out a character just to counter...
