    D&D 5E (2014) amazon.co.uk Descent in Avernus order "Estimated arrival date: October 12 2019 - October 14 2019"

I per-ordered Descent from Avernus and just received notice about this significant delay. I guess I should have supported my LGS. Cancelled the order and will be getting the book from local shop instead. Anyone know if there is a more significant issue with the print run or something?

D&D 5E (2014) Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus First Impressions

Many players, including Joe Manganiello, have different expectations regarding continuity of both the campaign world and PCs than you do it seems. Some groups have a more disposable approach that suits the meta-plot aspect of treating each new book as a DLC release and reset. As with...

D&D 5E (2014) Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus First Impressions

Is this what is known as 'whatabouttery'? Of course we could say the same thing and many of us do--I refer you to Patton Oswalt's classic rant about Hawkeye and Black Widow as B-list heroes. In the case you cite this is a problem just as the Chult and, evidently, Descent books suffer in the...

D&D 5E (2014) Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus First Impressions

Doesn't have to be Elminister. To take an obvious example, what are the high level PCs who just finished Mad Mage doing? Retired to run their tavern in Waterdeep while all hell breaks loose (literally)?

D&D 5E (2014) Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus First Impressions

Ah, so we have level 6 PCs sent to save the day. I suppose all the level 20 Harpers are busy. I hope the writers made a slight effort here.

D&D 5E (2014) Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus First Impressions

Does this book suffer from meta-plot laziness? City sucked into hell and a group of level 1 scrubs are the go-to party? Or is it the case that the party of level 1 scrubs are in the wrong place at the wrong time and end up in Avernus?

Sad to hear. Played his Play by mail war games from 1985-1995 religiously. Met him at a Con in Chicago, great smart guy.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5e recommended 2.5 sessions/level rate

My math is fuzzy, but if a party runs the “recommended” 6-8 encounters per adventuring day, and these encounters are of varying difficulty levels, then a party is going to level up (by XP at least) faster than 2.5 sessions unless 1) your sessions are really short or 2) a single adventuring day...

    D&D 5E (2014) Acquisitions, Inc.: First Impressions

Pants-on-head zanny fun in a D&D game is not to everyone's taste. I am not buying the book but I am happy it was released.

Can I just say how refreshing it is for a company to just go ahead and make a product and release it rather than do a KS?
