D&D General How would you feel if Official Adventures only covered 3 levels?

I have to wonder if the rise in the popularity of Milestone level advancement is connected in some part to the rise in popularity of Adventure Paths that do not provide enough encounters to level up with Experience Points due to page count constraints. "Enquiring minds want to know".

D&D General How would you feel if Official Adventures only covered 3 levels?

In my opinion Wizards of the Coast does this because it's what we want. It's not what I want anymore. I want 2 or 3 level adventure--I want modules. But, 15 years ago I was very excited by Adventure Paths that take you from 1st to 20th level. So, the industry gave me what I wanted. However, I...

    D&D 5E (2024) Sage Advice Compendium Updated To 2024

Yeah, you also see this in Shadowdark where halflings can turn themselves invisible each day for three rounds. I guess stealth is hard to codify in a way that prevents abuses.

    D&D 5E (2024) Sage Advice Compendium Updated To 2024

We used to try and defeat wraiths, and vampires, and ghosts with antimagic because they're undead, which is obviously magical. That was until someone pointed out that life is a miracle so also obviously magical.🙃

D&D General Roll20 Demiplane Integration Beta is Live

I see they have a D&D 5e nexus but it seems to lead to Tal'dorai. I assume there will only be third party published stuff there.

What is Demiplane? Is it like Herolab?

D&D 5E (2014) Prepping for The Wild Beyond the Witchlight -- The Witchlight Carnival

I asked my players' characters to leave their weapons and armor at the entrance booth because, you know, it's a carnival. If they don't want to part with their precious weapons (they didn't), I asked them to at least peace bind them with a flimsy piece of ribbon. I didn't inform them of this...

I call it the 50th anniversary edition.

D&D General What Bits of History Inspire Your Homebrew Setting?

My world of Everbee takes inspiration from the Protestant Reformation and the Catholic Counter-Reformation. I have a whole series of saints correlating with cleric specializations. And a whole history of the ongoing conflict between the Geardan and Grimman sects.

D&D General Sandbox style: Rumors say a +1 sword is in a cave nearby. Go get it?

Yes! I mean what else are we going to do? I don't drive across town burning expensive gasoline and paying bridge tolls to turn my nose up and hold out for better imaginary treasure. And if that +1 sword doesn't have a name, I'm going to give it one. 🙃

D&D General Simpsons Get Official D&D Minis

These "miniatures" remind me of the guy who would show up to Pathfinder Society games with a fat-guy-sitting-on-a-couch eating-a-bucket-of-chicken as a miniature.

D&D 5E (2024) What Licensed IP Do You Want For 5E?

Oh yeah, Sword Art Online is one I would actually like to see them do, and they'd probably do it well.

D&D 5E (2024) What Licensed IP Do You Want For 5E?

Harry Potter seems to be a good fit.

D&D 5E (2024) What Licensed IP Do You Want For 5E?

Gregory Maguire's World of Oz seems to be right up Wizards of the Coast's alley.

D&D General Do you transfer characters between campaigns?

I used to do that back in the '80s with my bard. Nowadays I have recreated the same character in different campaigns and different systems.

D&D General D&D Editions: Anybody Else Feel Like They Don't Fit In?

That is one thing I like about Shadowdark. Given that different characters can get different amounts of bonus experience points through carousing, they can be of slightly different levels at any given time.

D&D General D&D Editions: Anybody Else Feel Like They Don't Fit In?

I have run two Shadowdark adventures. The first I created myself and I ran it like any other 5e game. We had fun. I didn't really focus on the darkness; although their was an interesting scene where the Characters fought the Medusa in the dark, which neutralized her ability to petrify them...

    How would YOU change Shadowdark?

I appreciate the black and white art. I also like how the cover looks like a satanic bible. But most of all, I like the non-glossy pages. I want to write in the margin of my books and glossy pages make this harder.

    How would YOU change Shadowdark?

Yeah, I don't disagree. In fact I just ran the Lost Citadel of the Scarlet Minotaur written by Ms. Dione, and she specifically calls out the humanoids in that adventure as being dark adapted. My point is, when we began playing Shadowdark we thought all monsters could see in the dark, including...

    How would YOU change Shadowdark?

It was funny when we were first making characters for Shadowdark and we realized that you could play a goblin that can't see in the dark fighting goblins that can see in the dark. However, it's easy to overlook but on page 189 it does say that non-humanoid creatures are adapted to living in the...
