D&D 5E (2014) What could 5E do to make wealth worthwhile?

THINK BIGGER! (but not too big) Before you come in with the suggestion that wizards could make a little money by selling potions and scrolls, that would be for the guild artisan background.

D&D 5E (2014) What could 5E do to make wealth worthwhile?

I think one thing that Dungeons and Dragons could do to make wealth more useful is to create downtime activities that cost money but give you things like experience points (or even whole levels if you don't use experience points), contacts, new abilities, boons, etc. Shadowdark does this with...

D&D 5E (2014) Why Do Higher Levels Get Less Play?

I would say we rarely see high level play because most players seem to think that you have to start at a low level and work your way up to high level. However; the vast majority of high-level games I've seen (which aren't many because they're rare) were played with characters created at high...

    D&D 5E (2014) Lesser Vorpal Sword

Update: The sword, called Llyselyn, rolled a 20 on the first attack, confirmed the attack, and decapitated the barbarian. Unfortunately, the barbarian is,...was being played by our new player in her sixth ever session of Dungeons and Dragons. I feel I need to make amends.

    D&D 5E (2014) Invisible+Gaseous Form+Stealth---How would you run it?

Well how did you know I was asking what happened to post #11? Also, you're probably ignoring someone else in this thread because they don't seem to be able to see #11 either.

    Second person plural pronoun

    Oh, my sincerest apologies then.
  7. Lakesidefantasy

    Second person plural pronoun

Agreed. What if we changed it to "you folks". I also think "the lot of you" is equally offensive.
  8. Lakesidefantasy

    Second person plural pronoun

"The lot of you." "You people."

    D&D 5E (2014) Invisible+Gaseous Form+Stealth---How would you run it?

Off the cuff here. 1. Sure, go for it. 2. I would just not even ask for stealth checks if his pursuers aren't looking specifically for an invisible cloud. If they are, then no. 3. Yes, if they are looking for an invisible cloud of gas, otherwise no. 4. Full speed 10'.

D&D 5E (2024) Quotes from the Monster Manual

Puritans! At the beginning of this thread I wasn't sure how bad the word was, so I wasn't sure how to react. I thought it may be 'naughty word', or 'naughty word', or maybe even 'naughty word' (that one would be really bad). I wasn't really expecting it to be 'naughty word' or 'naughty word'. I mean, nobody would write that where...

My apologies to the board for writing the word 'naughty word'. 🙃

See, this is the problem with censorship: What word are we talking about?

D&D General Reification versus ludification in 5E/6E

We summon the animals of the forest to our aid. Can we still do that? Were we ever able to do that? We're not looking for spirits, we're looking animals, THE animals of the forest, or the fishes of the sea, or maybe even the rats of the sewers. Do we have to do a little reskinning (not a bad...

D&D 5E (2024) Anyone Else Find It Interesting How Different The Approaches to Setting Books Is Between 5e & 5.5e?

I agree. Largely selling us the same content we already bought 10 years ago won't work very well.

D&D General Drow & Orcs Removed from the Monster Manual

I still have trouble saying the word "snicker". It has a sting to it.

    Nope. I said youns.

D&D General What would your "fourth core rulebook" be?

A book of optional rules like Unearthed Arcana would be my fourth core book. I like optional rules and really monkeying around with the mechanics of the game.
