You know what, this was a mistake. Just forget I brought it up.

D&D 5E (2014) Not upgrading? What version of D&D 5e are you sticking with?

I stopped collecting after Tasha's. That's about the time that things had gotten real political in the community. I now don't feel comfortable playing. I feel like I'm walking on eggshells, and am always concerned that I may hurt someone and make them mad at me. I have feelings too and I'm scared.

D&D General How Often Should a PC Die in D&D 5e?

Yeah, it's a superhero game in Dungeons and Dragons clothing. But, that's what we want so that's what we get. When I started playing role-playing games I chose to play Dungeons and Dragons rather than DC heroes because I don't care for super heroes. Just like I chose to play Top Secret and not...

D&D 5E (2014) What 5E Product Are You Most Looking Forward To in 2025?

I'm curious, what books are we expecting from Wizards of the Coast in 2025?

    D&D General Best dungeons?

The Vivified Labyrinth from Curse of the Crimson Throne was a lot of fun. It's a dungeon set on a series of giant gears that changes configuration as you pull different levers to explorer it. It separated the bard from the rest of the party. 😈 Also, The Clash of the Kingslayers has a dungeon...

D&D General Your Character Died! Who's Fault Was It?

The last time a character of mine died he snapped a Staff of Power over his knee next to a four-armed gargoyle and did maximum damage, butt instead of getting shunted to another plane of existence...he died spectacularly. This was in a you-kill-it-you-keep-it miniatures game and I was...

D&D General Your Character Died! Who's Fault Was It?

I chose: "I don't understand the question. Characters can die." But I changed the question mark to a period.

D&D General The New York Times on D&D

I think it's possible that a proportion of the sales come from people who bought the books simply because it's the 50th anniversary edition. Heck, some may not even play Dungeons and Dragons anymore.

I would add that there is a big 50 on the the new books. A lot of people probably bought the books simply for that reason.

D&D 5E (2024) Help Me Hate Monks (Less Than I Currently Do)

What about the second part? Oh, I think I see what might be going on here. You considered Chaltab's question to be rhetorical and only a fool would engage with it because it's a trap. I was honestly trying to engage with that question and you took the opportunity to pounce and imply that I am...

D&D 5E (2024) Help Me Hate Monks (Less Than I Currently Do)

Cause when you tell your players you're excited to run an adventure about knights in shining armor with dragons and wizards and elves---and then Ben shows up with a ninja. Thanks Ben. I guess you're just payin' me back for showing up with a knight in shining armor to your Legend of the Five...

D&D General Redesigning DnD 5e with no Bonus Actions

No! No! No! Noooooooooope! Nada! Not ever going back to that ever again. Full actions, standard actions, move actions, swift actions, free actions, and, my favorite, not an actions. Barf!

D&D 5E (2024) Help Me Hate Monks (Less Than I Currently Do)

Just about all of the monks I've ever rolled up were some version or another of Friar Tuck.

D&D General The New York Times on D&D

I think we are being willfully blind if we don't recognize that using the term species to describe people will not rise up and haunt us someday.

D&D General The New York Times on D&D

Yes, this debate is not about orcs. It's about systemic racism and removing all instances of systemic racism from all aspects of society. In the process as words and ideas are vilified people feel like they're being a vilified as well, either outright or implicitly, and they of course get...

D&D General The New York Times on D&D

Species is a special or specific kind whereas genera is a general or generic kind. Kind is too generic for me. It trips off the tongue and seems to be begging to be paired up with other words like "of" and "creature" or "species" or "race".
