Continuing your campaign or starting fresh?

If I remain in the DM seat, I definitely plan on starting a new campaign (at which point I'll decide whether I'll continue using Eberron or give this new points-of-light thing [which, admittedly, has me very interested] a go). My players and I agree that if we're going to use the 4e (and most...

GHFR owners - please spoil the underdark for me

You almost got it right, except you've got to ad a "/" in the closing bracket, so it's [spoiler] Text you're about to spoil [ /spoiler], only without the blank space between the bracket and "/". That's a general rule with vB code, the closing brackets always have the "/". Regards.

    So, about those halflings...

I'm fond of both types, the "old edition" halflings and the 3(.5)e version, although I might be more inclined to play the old halfling (makes for a better comic relief character, something I kind-of specialise in :P). However, the actual appearance doesn't bother me (saying I'm playing a pudgy...

Didier Monin's Blog - What the heck is...

Similar in Croatian, except we don't use penal (too footballey ;)). At our gaming table we use either minus or penalty (since we play in Engletian -- or is it Cronglish ;)) Regards.

    Design and Development: Cosmology

Exactly! That's why I like it :) In one of the PS products, it was said that the Outer Planes weren't really neatly arranged in the shape of the Ring. It was just the most common representation of the planar arrangement. Now, in my campaigns I can have various factions argue over which is the...

    Design and Development: Cosmology

Me like! :D I especially like that there are no demiplanes in the Astral, they're called dominions now. I just love that! And all the while I'm thinking how it wouldn't be particularly difficult to adapt Planescape to this whole new cosmology... Edit: I also find it interesting that the...

D&D 4E Some thoughts on 4e magic from a designer

Oooo! I like this! Although I never played in the game that used illusionists (I got in the game after the release of 2e, and although at the time we used a mix of 1e and 2e material, illusionist wasn't in -- we didn't have the 1e PHB), I always liked the idea of separate magical "traditions"...

    D&D 4E 4E Devils vs. Demons article

I'm back on topic with this one (well, sort of) ;) I'm still ambivalent about the announced changes to the D&D multiverse (since I am a huge fan of PS and the Great Ring), but I'm also slightly cautiously optimistic about the whole thing. I like what they're doing with devils and demons...

    D&D 4E 4E Devils vs. Demons article

I'll slightly disagree :) I mean, yes, the novels were probably one of the big reasons why they decided to go with the FR, but not the real reason. Look at Dragonlance, for example. It's had a very strong novel line, yet the setting was discontinued (but the novel line continued). I believe...

    D&D 4E 4E Devils vs. Demons article

Mostly nitpicking, but Lisa Stevens, the last brand manager for Greyhawk, said: I got the quote off the Dragonsfoot forums here (it's quoted in the first post on the 8th page of the thread). I know I originally read it somewhere else, but can't find the link now. Regards.

    Changelings in The PHB? (Vote)

I really like changelings -- in fact I like all Eberron races, but I believe changelings and shifters would be the easiest to incorporate in other settings (since doppelgangers and lycanthropes are, by default, present in most settings). However, unless shifters are drastically changed -- that...

D&D 4E Handling subraces in 4e campaign settings?

From what's been hinted at in various interviews and designer snippets, this seems likely. We know 4e will have drow, they've been mentioned a number of times, and it only follows that similar subraces, i.e. those that are far removed from the original stock (like having abilities drastically...

D&D 4E FR 4E SPOILER - Grand Histoy of the Realms info

Yes, except the WWs are more like the Horde invasion of the Faerun... and nobody really remembers that. And while the World Wars (and WWII in particular) were catastrophic examples of human stupidity, they were not, in the strictest sense, world-shattering. ToT and Spellplague are, because...

D&D 4E FR 4E SPOILER - Grand Histoy of the Realms info

While some of the changes show certain promise, I fear that FR will become the new Dragonlance. Spellplague is the second world-shattering event in, what, 30 years? (ToT was somewhere in 1350s, right?) IN DL they had Cataclysm, then they found the god, then there was the Chaos War thingie...

    Attacking the Darkness

I assume low-light vision and darkvision will work like they do in Star Wars Saga Edition now. Basically, low-light vision ignores concealment (but not total concealment) from darkness, and darkvision ignores any concealment for darkness, but is black and white. Range, basically, unlimited...

D&D 4E What level (APL) will you start your first 4E campaign?

Exactly. Besides, I always preferred low-levels. It's much more challenging, as low-level monsters aren't exactly over-abundant, and most players have been slaughtering goblins and kobolds since forever, so it takes much more to make adventures at those levels interesting. Having said that, I...

    D&D 4E The WotC designers will be bashing 4e once 5e is announced . . .

I was really excited about 3e back in 1999. AD&D 2e had some elements that I could never get the hang on, no matter ho long I played (hello, THAC0!). 3e, at the time, promised a simpler, more elegant, unified system. However, there are now certain elements of 3(.5)e that I have grown to...

How do you handle rolling for HP?

We re-roll according to the following chart: d6 re-rolls on 1 d8 and d10 re-roll on 1 and 2 d12 re-rolls on 1, 2, and 3 You get to re-roll once and keep the second roll (even if it's worst than the previous roll). I can't remember at the moment whether d4 also gets to re-roll on a 1. Regards.

    Darkvision and mirrors?

I'd allow it. Makes mirrors feel more mystical.
