Specialist wizards, which two schools do you give up?

I voted for the generalist wizard, because in 3(.5)e I specialist wizards are bland when compared to their generalist cousins. It's a bad trade-off, losing entire two schools for an extra spell per day per level and a small Spellcraft bonus, especially since 3.5 redesigned schools so that every...

At what level do you start your campaigns?

If it were up to me, definitely 1st level. I actualy [u]like[/i] low levels. Both as a player and a DM. However, most of the people I play with don't like starting at level 1, and so in the last two campaigns we started at level 3, and that's where I put my vote. Regards.

[World Cup] The world's view of Germany - has it changed?

 Definitely one of the best shows ever. And poor old Basil is just the person for the image. You really made me laugh! Regards!

[World Cup] The world's view of Germany - has it changed?

Just the other day, a local radio-station discussed how great the Germans were to not (overly) raise prices of food and lodging. I haven't really paid attention to the whole discussion, so this might not be the case for large cities, but I remember the host saying that a lot of Croats found...

Ill Bethisad as a d20 Modern/Past/Future/Urban Arcana setting?

I was wondering has aynone thought of this? Or actually used the Ill Bethisad as the setting for any one of d20 Modern derivations? It looks like it just was meant for the pulp-type of campaign. You can read more about Ill Bethisad here and here. Essentially, it's a what-if Earth, constructed...

Mechanical penalties for losing an arm?

The hook prosthetic, from d20 Cyberscape says the following: A hook partially replaces the function of its biological counterpart. It allows limited manipulation, and any action that requires two hands is done at a –4 penalty. A hook can be treated as a simple weapon in an external weapon mount...

Doom from Below: The Illithid Ascension (Last Updated: 1-1-03)

I'll join the bumping party. It's a good story hour, and I'd like to read more. Regards.

    Drow and level adjustment

I voted +2. The stat bonuses (+2 Dex, +2 Int, +2 Cha) heavily outweigh stat penalties (-2 Con). They get the standard set of elven racial traits, some minor spell-like abilities, 120 ft. darkvision, and spell resistance (which is their biggest bonus, really). And all this is offset with light...

    EN World World Cup blog

Congratulations, Australia! :) We played bad. The media are probably going to draw and quarter our coach, along with the couple of players (Kranjcar, Tomas, Olic). Apparently, we deserved to lose. But, anyways, we'll just go cheering for Australia now. It's not like they don't have any...

    EN World World Cup blog

That's Serbia-Montenegro :) Apparently, it's a combination of a multitude of factors, including injured players and tensions between players (related to the recent dissolution of the state union). At least that's what I've been hearing around here.

    Scientists Shout Out!

I'm working towards my masters degree-equivalent in fishery sciences. Croatia recently underwent changes in the educational system, upgrading it to Bologna system, and as a result I got my future degree upgraded ;)

What is the most common alignment for your characters?

I'm most comfortable with (undecided) Neutral, with slight good tendencies (that's my real-life "alignment" as well, according to almost all alignment tests I took). NG is my second choice, with LN at third place. I can't play Evil well, in any form (tried once or twice, and somehow it always...

What do Enworlders do in real life?

After I pass my last three exams (Mathematics I, Mathematics II, Statistics), I'll get my master's degree in marine fisheries and a bachelors degree in nautics. I really hope this would happen sometime before the end of the year (I suck at maths... hard... )

Pick your favorite: Demon, Devil or Yugoloth

I voted yugoloths. They are the true masters of Evil. Baatezu come second, and Tanar'ri are way back in the third place. Regards.

    Pronouncing Acheron: ASH, or ACK?

Exactly! :p I don't know how to accurately describe the sound... it's not as "sharp" as either, really, and can be somewhat likened to the "wh" in "who", although certain ways of pronouncing the german "Ich" come close (don't know what dialects those would be). Regards.

    Pronouncing Acheron: ASH, or ACK?

I pronounce it with 'ch' as in scottich 'loch' or german 'Ich'. And in Croatian, it's spelled Aheron. And while we're already mentioning, Styks is either Stiga or Stiks, and Tarterus is Tartar. (For those interested, Greek names are generally translated to Croatian based on the genitive case...

    Sorcerers' spell list

Edited accordingly. :) I find the list interesting, as I'm playing a sorcerer for the first time (ever) in our group. So far, we only had wizards as arcane casters, and I find the experience very different. By 3rd level, our wizards would have had quite a few spells in their spellbooks, and...

    Sorcerers' spell list

OK, I'll edit my original post. I'll agree with that. 250 gp per casting is a bit too much.

    Sorcerers' spell list

While searching for some files on my hard drive, I found a "top list" of sorcerer spells. The list originally appeared on polls looking for the best PHB spell of each level (made by dcollins), and then collected into the list below by Thanee: Now, with the various other accessories available...

A killer puzzle that makes me want to pull my hair out.

You might as well be correct. It has been quite some time since both that adventure and the last time I had to use any latin, aside from tha occasional phrase. I really can't remember whether that was the exact phrase I used (in fact, it probably wasn't), and I might have really used the Greek...
