D&D General How Did You Generate Your Most Recent Character's Stats?

Neither do I, which is why I have constraints on the stat choice/s, so there are trade-offs, same as the other choices you mention.

D&D General How Did You Generate Your Most Recent Character's Stats?

I did something not included in your list--it's the system I've been using in the 5e/ToV games I've been running for years. Pick your stats, in the range of 6-18. They must be half-even, half-odd, and you can't have three the same. The total bonuses must not be higher than x. Do not apply any...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

The players I've been GMing for have managed to be neither of those things. Of course, they haven't managed to be between those things, either.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I don't force any randomness on the players they do not choose, and I do not feel as though the campaigns I've run have been predictable. Then again, the players I've been running for have managed to make characters that are actually distinguishable from each other.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

On the one hand, I see what you're saying--there are some kinda obvious best-ish choices, and there are some players who will always make the same ones (Of the ones you've listed, martial/caster hybrid is a pretty narrow choice, IME, it's nowhere near ubiqitous.) On the other hand, I could see...

Depends on why you're wearing it in a thunderstorm.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Or exactly the sort of thing to wear in a thunderstorm.

Yeah, if people need to shuffle around an interchange, zipper-merging is not the correct move.

This is part of how my wife got our EV up to 106 MPH unintentionally. In ECO Mode. Someone just didn't want to let her merge ...

What are you reading in 2025?

One of these days, I'll read that trilogy. It's on my shelves, I have no real excuse for not having done so.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I was about to make a joke about this being the internet, but my heart just wasn't in it. Mutual respect seems more sustainable than sarcasm. My gawds, who am I?

I always kinda thought Socrates' problem was that he was too good at that approach.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Yeah, I wasn't slagging on the quotation or disagreeing with the general point, just kinda ... bouncing off.

Oh, same here. I haven't touched an instrument in a few years, and I almost entirely played by ear when I played in garage bands.

How do you like to start a campaign

I usually go around the table (or down the user list) asking each player how their character knows the character of the player to their ... left (say). Then I ask that player if they're OK with that (if they're not we negotiate, but that hasn't been necessary). I also have a tendency to just...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I have read, or maybe heard, that there are people can read a score and hear the music in their head, a combination of absolute pitch and musical education, I have to believe. This is not me: I was never any good at sigh-reading, and my sense of pitch is ... kinda approximate.

Oh, I was steelmanning. I almost always include the last comma.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Sure, omit the last comma unless you need it for clarity and/or style.

I'm thinking stuff like Oxford Comma, to be honest.
