    Feats - Improved!

I think I was picturing 1), but the image of 2) is cooler. Mechanically, I prefer the Counterspell style as I fear that a straight attack roll would be significantly stronger than an Abjurer's 10th level ability, which is already awesome. A newbie v. human with Mage Slayer should not rival an...

    Feats - Improved!

Got it. Athlete Yeah, I thought about it that way, too, but I think it all evens out in the end. Simply treating it as one level less is nearly the same as the long rest will still cure you of a level, just as this ability resets. One other consequence with that wording is that you have to...

    Feats - Improved!

Sure, we can add some descriptive text: "- Once per long rest, you may use your reaction to attempt to stop a creature you can target from casting a spell by attacking it while it is trying to use the spell's components, causing it to forget a word, drop a crucial component, or gesture...

    Feats - Improved!

Cool! I'll consider that. There are a lot of creatures immune to certain types, especially poison. Reducing immunity makes your character not totally suck against them. This is excellent, and really what I was going for originally. Here's a new version. I specify that you use a reaction...

    Feats - Improved!

Yeah, I like the idea of it though. :-) You could make a creature immune for the rest of the round after a hit: - Sniper Shot: At the start of your turn you may expend a bonus action and forgo your movement except to stand up or fall prone. The first time you hit each target with a ranged...

    Feats - Improved!

Sure thing! I see your concern, and its effect on Brawler below. What do you think of this change?: "- You gain proficiency in the Athletics or Acrobatics skill. If you are already proficient in both skills, you may choose one to add gain advantage on checks you make with it. - Once per day...

    Feats - Improved!

It's stuck in this awkward place of way-OP as a bonus action but near-useless as an action. Another thought, what if you could cast it as a reaction against your attacker after being hit? Or what if it replaced your opportunity attack: "Instead of making an opportunity attack, you gain...

    Feats - Improved!

Thanks! :-D Actor Ok. I will definitely consider that! Healer I actually originally had it double your proficiency bonus, but I changed it for two reasons. One reason is that some people think Expertise breaks Bounded Accuracy, and so I wanted ti to be more appealing to them. The most...

    Feats - Improved!

Let's see. How about this adjustment? "You have advantage on active Wisdom (Perception) and Intelligence (Investigation) checks made to detect the presence of secret doors."

    Feats - Improved!

Thanks! Actor I thought so, too. Message and Friends are less common, as well, generally not powerful, but fit the "Spycraft" idea you had and add some more flavor. This might cause them to be used more, and more creatively. Armor Master Yeah, I think this is well balanced. The switch...

    Feats - Improved!

It has Concentration in that it you can still lose concentration from being hit. But it wouldn't wipe out your Hunter's Mark or other substantial spell. I'm open to changing this, however. This would be true whether or not it was before the action. The cantrip specifies that its benefit comes...

Human Fighters Most Common Race/Class Combo In D&D

Vanilla is actually a valuable spice and not a plain/nothing flavor. Vanilla gets a bad rap.

    Feats - Improved!

That's a fair criticism. Is there a simple way to make True Strike more useful than its PHB uselessness but not OP? It is worth noting that it does require Concentration. Also, most classes that would benefit greatly from True Strike don't get cantrips.

Human Fighters Most Common Race/Class Combo In D&D

It's worth noting that Human is the most straightforward race and Fighter sounds like the simplest class to pick up for new players or people jumping into a game. I would guess that the complexity of spellcasting moves people toward the martial-focused classes. Those classes may be weaker in the...

    Feats - Improved!

Because it uses your action. It is almost always better to just attack this round and next rather than do nothing this round and have advantage next round. This change would let you use it as a bonus action, making it much more useful, letting you attack this round and gain advantage next...

    Feats - Improved!

Heavily inspired by @vonklaude (Complete Revision of PHB Feats) and @CapnZapp (Feats Redux II), and other contributors, I have been working on my own overhaul of the PHB feats. Several of these are identical to or near identical to those they have presented. What do you think of each of these as...

    D&D 5E (2014) GWM, SS, CEx: updated!

Interesting. I did not know this history. This isn't quite my intent, I don't think. This is intentional as some complain that Crossbow Expert gives the benefit of the Two Weapon Fighting fighting style while allowing the ranged fighter to choose Archery to go with it. However, limiting the...

    D&D 5E (2014) GWM, SS, CEx: updated!

Crossbow Expert Thanks to extensive practice with the crossbow, you gain the following benefits: - You ignore the loading quality of crossbows with which you are proficient. - Once per turn, being within 5 feet of a hostile creature doesn’t impose disadvantage on your ranged attack rolls. -...
