    D&D 5E (2024) No 5.5 AP Yet?

Yeah, the recent hires suggest they are aiming for lore-rich adventures/settings.

WotC D&D Beyond Reveals 'Partnered Content' Schedule

KB doesn't want to do more Eberron - this update is mechanical stuff which KB doesn't do. KB wrote the lore was stuff back in 2020.

    D&D 5E (2024) No 5.5 AP Yet?

I find it better to not have too much prepped in advance, beyond a vague and disposable outline. The problem with adventure paths is they don't react to player choices. Short adventures - whist I can write them better myself, I find I can't write them fast enough to keep up with the pace of the...

D&D General Thoughts on New Artificer Subclasses from Exploring Eberron (D&D Beyond)

The original version of Maverick was very underpowered.

A lot of people objected to the colour maps and asked for black and white ones. I assume because they were playing old style and drawing the maps on graph paper as they went along. They don’t look as pretty but they are easier to copy by hand. The modern monochrome maps don’t look like the old...

Spoilers Wonder Man all episodes now streaming

So the similarities to the 80s Flash Gordon movie (the American Dan Dare) and the British Eagle comic aren’t from the original.

D&D General Friday Fun: What Are Your Top 3 Playable Species

There is a whole bunch of other stuff on surveys in the GCSE Maths syllabus, but it’s not really my field, I only did one term statistics as part of my degree, so I just taught it from the book.

D&D General Friday Fun: What Are Your Top 3 Playable Species

No one is suggesting you are aware, and since it relies on respondents being too lazy to read all the way to the bottom before responding it doesn’t really matter here. I only know because survey design was something I taught as part of GCSE Maths. A good survey should be alphabetical, or...

D&D General Friday Fun: What Are Your Top 3 Playable Species

Putting the results you want at the top of the list is an old survey manipulation trick, but I doubt it had much effect in this case.

Cosmere picked up by Apple TV

Yeah, it’s a matter of pacing and rhythm as well as content. The BBC radio version picked that up better than the movies.

Spoilers Wonder Man all episodes now streaming

I might have imagined this, but the woman on the cover of the 1980s Wonderman video looked like Joanna Lumley (as she looked in the 80s). Another thing I’m probably wrong about the significance was the Eagle cinema. I’m unfamiliar with the original Wonderman comics, but it all seemed very...

    D&D 5E (2024) Predict WotC's 2026 D&D releases

It’s twice as much revenue for one project. Much of what gets created winds up being cut to fit into a single book. So you get two books for little more work than one. They could, but why reinvent the wheel? There are only so many ways you can make a fantasyland, and they have all been done before.

    D&D 5E (2024) Predict WotC's 2026 D&D releases

The feedback was positive, and the feedback on the formats of Stryxhaven, Dragonlance and Spelljammer were very negative. You don't need to be a genius to know which way to go. Most of the target market are to young to have any knowledge of a historic setting. Ergo, all settings, new and old...

    D&D 5E (2024) Predict WotC's 2026 D&D releases

It’s a format that is proven. The actual setting is irrelevant so long as it is done well.

    D&D 5E (2024) Predict WotC's 2026 D&D releases

Most likely late 3rd or early 4th. Probably the big release for the year, so aiming at Christmas. I would say a two book pair, like FR, as that format seems to have been quite well received.

    D&D 5E (2024) Predict WotC's 2026 D&D releases

And we have 5 announced only 1/12 of the way through the year. Last year hardly any of the 3PP on DDB got much advanced publicity. So that is markedly different. It's also notable that release schedules for everyone ramp up towards the end of the year (and Christmas) and Q1 is a lull, since...

Taylor Navarro Joins Wizards of the Coast as D&D Designer

Not really, most of the maps are real world inspired - a hut, a cave, etc. It doesn’t have much in the way of complex dungeons. Or eye candy, since the maps aren’t coloured.

    D&D 5E (2024) Predict WotC's 2026 D&D releases

Oh yes, very much so. See the price increases in POD services. Shipping costs too. Other publishers have much smaller print runs, so have more options for choice of printer. You have a big print run, you need a big printer. Which is the thing. It would make life much easier for WotC to take...

    D&D 5E (2024) Predict WotC's 2026 D&D releases

WotC would typically release one product in 1st quarter. We have 5 3PP on DDB. That is way more aggressive.
