    No. Never said that.

And what the rest of us are asking is why on earth are you guys asking that question when no one here has said that they do that. Maybe it's because you are a very passionate person, but you tend to dial up comments made by people to a 9 or 10 before you respond to them, even when they're only...

Sometimes I love my tired brain. Didn't sleep well last night and as soon as I saw the bolded portion, my mind was like, well now I want to have a group of half-illithid halflings approach the party and say, "Well, then. Isn't it about time for 2nd breakfast."

So it's not things that "I'm not into." I'm not into halflings, gnomes, half-orcs, loxodon, playing with Barbies, tortles, 3e-5e tieflings, aarakocra, githzerai, hammering nails through my feet, lizard folk, kenku, and other odd races. I don't give a fig if my players want to play one of those...

How Complex Do You Prefer Your TTRPG Systems In General

If 5e is a 6, then 3e was an 8. I prefer a game right in the middle, so a 7. I love 5e, but it's oversimplified in my opinion.

Yep. It's probably got the most lore of any setting out there, but it's still less than 1% of that setting.

I can't recall ever having to veto a concept. They roll numbers that night and then think about their character while I work on the game.

I do. At the end of a campaign we all pick 5 ideas for the next campaign. Then everyone looks at the ideas and can veto one of them, so the ones least liked are gone early. From the remaining 15 everyone assigns a number from 1-15 and the top 3 vote getters go to a final vote with the winner...

That's actually very, very far from true. Even the Realms, as detailed as it is, has less than 1% nailed down. There's swathes of open area where villages, towns and even cities can just be plunked down if the DM wants. The cities, even Waterdeep, has so many unnamed buildings that you can...

And vice versa, yes. If they dislike something, I drop it from my game. Why on Earth would we want to intentionally inflict discomfort on another person when there are 12764636211877676 fun things to play in D&D?

D&D General So how do Half-Elfs feel different to Elfs?

I don't know what you mean by that. My argument here has only ever been about 5e and 5.5e.

I'm betting they hire Bilbo to write it.

D&D General So how do Half-Elfs feel different to Elfs?

Try as you might, you can't make the 5.5e PHB elves be Norse elves. You can only homebrew your elves to be Norse elves in YOUR game. The default 5.5e PHB elves are D&D elves, not Norse.

We all have tons of things we enjoy, so we're going to be decent to one another and not intentionally cause another at the table discomfort, yes. My players aren't so one note that they can only enjoy one thing at the expense of another person.

Even though the PHB says that you shouldn't do that? The very first thing in character creation is a paragraph telling you to ask the DM if there's anything about the setting/game that would affect how you make your character. That's the opposite of saying that you should assume that...

I wouldn't find that objectionable. Bards, Clerics, Paladins, Sorcerers, and Warlocks would finally have a good use for the other half of their starting saves!

D&D General So how do Half-Elfs feel different to Elfs?

Yes, any homebrew setting is legitimate in 5.5e. As it was in 5e, 4e, 3.5e, 3e, 2e, 1e and BECMI. Where you are going wrong is in making statements that indicate that the default 5.5e elf is the Norse elf. It isn't. Come on dude. It's not cool to misportray what someone says that badly...

I don't have to exclude, because my players, being decent human beings, wouldn't want to play something that causes me even minor discomfort due to dislike. Just as I don't include things in the adventures I prepare that they would dislike. It's how social games work. All I have to do is let...

D&D General So how do Half-Elfs feel different to Elfs?

I just went ghost hunting in the Whaley House. It was a lot of fun, even if I didn't see or hear any.

D&D General So how do Half-Elfs feel different to Elfs?

Regardless, D&D elves are not Alfar. If they were, you couldn't play one, because they would be too powerful to be a PC race.
