D&D 5E (2014) Thoughts on bonus action potions?

I can definitely get a bottle out of my belt and drink it while actively fighting.

D&D 5E (2014) Thoughts on bonus action potions?

Even if it took, say, seven seconds, I just don't think it's something that would consume your entire concentration.

AD&D 2E Can anyone give me a rundown on Red Steel and other obscure D&D settings not mentioned in this video?

There is a forum dedicated to out of print settings, especially old TSR ones, which has a very strong community and library around Mystara in general and Red Steel specifically.

D&D 5E (2014) Thoughts on bonus action potions?

I looked up some examples on Amazon, and a 1 oz perfume bottle weighs about 5 ounces. So it is actually accurate for ounce of liquid in a bottle to weigh half a pound.

Dead levels? Back in my day, we just called them "levels." :)

Tell me about VtM when it started

It was huge. It brought in a lot of club kids. Also, a lot of people who read Ravenloft books but didn't play a lot of D&D. It brought a lot of non-gamers to the table, as well as feeding into LARP groups. Not just Vampire LARP, but lots of Vampire cosplayers showing up at Amtgard and such. It...

How Do You Like Your Steak?

I'm mostly a medium rare eater, most cuts, most of the time. I like sirloin a little closer to medium. Stuff like fajita, steak delmonico, burgers, and so forth should always be well to break down the connective tissue. Anyone who makes pretentious claims about how steak should never be well 1)...

    D&D General Should you Multiclass?

There are a lot of concepts that just make sense as some combination of Fighter and Rogue, though the game is a little punishing if you do it early. The dirty mercenary, the pirate, the cunning swashbuckler, etc. You can do some of these with subclasses but they aren't always focused on what I...

D&D 5E (2024) Does Innate Sorcery grant True Strike advantage?

That doesn't refute what I said. The word "just" is doing a lot of work in your explanation. I don't have to ignore that, I challenge you to explain the relevance of what you are claiming, in addition to its factuality. I see noting in the book that demonstrates they have gone out of their...

D&D 5E (2024) Does Innate Sorcery grant True Strike advantage?

That's an assertion unfounded by any text of which I am aware. True Strike says Guided by a flash of magical insight, you make one attack with the weapon used in the spell's casting. That fits the definition of an attack roll that occurs as part of a spell. It fits Innate Sorcery entirely...

D&D 5E (2024) Does Innate Sorcery grant True Strike advantage?

If it's an attack made as part of a spell, True Strike is definitely a spell attack.

D&D 5E (2024) Does Innate Sorcery grant True Strike advantage?

As written, yes. As intended? Probably. Why wouldn't it? Why single out this one spell?

That's how you know D&D was invented in Wisconsin.

D&D 5E (2014) Thoughts on bonus action potions?

"A typical potion consists of 1 ounce of liquid in a vial." The entry on the equipment list presumably includes the container, as well as a significant amount of rounding.

D&D 5E (2014) Thoughts on bonus action potions?

I don't really get the realism argument. Assuming a six second round, with lots of circling around and casting spells and such... how long does it really take to gulp down a potion? I know characters in movies do it in a pitched melee.

D&D 5E (2014) Thoughts on bonus action potions?

Arguably, using an accessible potion should have been an Interaction in the first place.

D&D 5E (2024) Mike Mearls explains why your boss monsters die too easily

Well, it is kind of a white room thing. The designers assumed more exploring, and more pressure by the GM. But the typical playstyle turned out to be tactical puzzle-solving. The DMG has given (fairly accurate) estimates of what encounters will make the game run as intended. And many, if not...

D&D 5E (2024) Mike Mearls explains why your boss monsters die too easily

I usually only make major encounters hard. It's okay for things to be a bit swingy, when the PCs know the fate of the kingdom/universe/ etc. is at stake. Conversely, for normal encounters, they might use less resources, use ambush tactics. etc.

D&D 5E (2024) Mike Mearls explains why your boss monsters die too easily

The game plays better if the DM is ready for the boss to go down quickly sometimes, and if the players are sometimes attacked when they haven't had a chance to rest.
