The Guards at the Gate Quote

If anyone knows, where is Wyatt's quote referenced from? EDIT: nevermind, answered above, but does lead me to a new question. Is there a central repository one can find all of these quotes and links to videos for someone that wants to study WOTC's marketing campaign for the 4th edition rollout...

D&D 4E Can WotC Cater to Past Editions Without Compromising 4e Design?

I read the OP's question as pertaining to 4e's goals as a game and how the designers built those rules for a specific style of play. Since Mearl's dials of complexity don't seem to deal with throwing out healing surges, throwing out treasure parcels, throwing out the balance idea of every...

    Help - New Blinding look?

Doesn't work for storm troopers though. :p

    Help - New Blinding look?

I'd be interested to know why people don't like the black. I find this site is easier to read than most others.

Holy sheepdip - wotc to republish old editions

I might consider POD for some items that I don't have, or that I do have but are in bad condition. I am still kicking myself that I didn't buy the 25th-silver anniversary box set years ago. Would not make that mistake again.

Could Wizards ACTUALLY make MOST people happy with a new edition?

I think 4e would have had me if it were marketed as DDMv3 or advanced DDM

    Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder outselling D&D

I keep making my saving throw. I wonder if this is all it has. Weak.

How do you use linguistics in world-building?

Here is another link to a resource that I tried to use years ago. Language Construction Kit

How do you use linguistics in world-building?

I have used this site in the past. It is fairly in depth but may prove useful. Omniglot I love the area that shows the different scripts.

    My collection of TSR products...

B10 was one of the hardest modules for me to get second hand, but it is well worth it.

    My collection of TSR products...

The Complete Handbook of Villains would be on my list of 2e books to have. It is generally rules-lite and a great resource for building villainous NPCs and groups. The Worldbuilder's Guide Book is my goto resource for any campaign world/adventuring location/sandbox design (although the...

Mearls' Legends and Lore (or, "All Roads Lead to Rome, Redux")

I don't have the time this evening to really clarify my point but I will try and give the short and sweet of what I think. The people that I am trying to set up "How to Host a Murder" for seem amiable to roleplaying. After that evening I would consider trying to teach some of them D&D using...

Mearls' Legends and Lore (or, "All Roads Lead to Rome, Redux")

I very rarely post but this thread and others here have really kicked my brain into overdrive. In another thread I posted that I would love to play in a Call of Cthulhu campaign based on "The Masks of Nyarl...." I would love to run/play in it for my wife and friends. The only way I see that...

Mearls' Legends and Lore (or, "All Roads Lead to Rome, Redux")

That's the rub. What Mearls and co. have to figure out is what made D&D great in the past to bring in into the future. When I think of how my wife views the hobby, I wonder if dropping the d20 license hurt more than finding a place for it in the new business model. Because where the wife goes...

Mearls' Legends and Lore (or, "All Roads Lead to Rome, Redux")

Good question. If I remember correctly there were several issues. At that time I was a D&D/high fantasy purist. The setting as the DM described while fantastic was much darker than I was used to--also maybe too fantastic. If I remember correctly the DMPC was some sort of rock creature. I...

Mearls' Legends and Lore (or, "All Roads Lead to Rome, Redux")

Holy crap this is long I thought about something after my last post before I went to sleep and didn't want to say anything until I had thought it through. I will try and make my point but I think I will need to take the long way around, so this might be kinda longish. And interestingly enough...
