    D&D 5E (2014) DMG excerpt: Carousing!

Ha, I like that you add your level to the "carousing" meter, and the higher stuff is actually more beneficial. So low level characters will likely be making enemies, waking up unconscious, or forming romances, whereas a high level character will bypass those bad ones entirely. A level 20...

D&D 5E (2014) Sorcerer spell list - why so short?

That's fine, but it did seem to me as if the crux was the point of the conversation. You ask why the sorcerer's spell list is short because in trying to convert you've found it lacking. In the middle of this, the conversation has also turned to whether or not the sorcerer stands up to how...

D&D 5E (2014) Sorcerer spell list - why so short?

It seems to me then that this is less of a thread of "are sorcerer's good or not" and more of a "how can I fit my preexisting character better into 5E?" Which is fine, but it doesn't seem like the commentary on the sorcerers not getting playtesting or something is very fair to the designers...

    D&D 5E (2014) What is the logic behind one 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th level spell?

Now who's adding things? I think a much more likely scenario would be villagers taken over by some evil being, or people convinced by some outside force of your evil nature (the soldiers following Nazi orders were just normal people after all). Not to mention if we're going to put in a morale...

D&D 5E (2014) Sorcerer spell list - why so short?

As Tormyr said, this edition is about finding a niche for each class. Having the sorcerer able to hve every spell that the wizard had would have either made the sorcerer too powerful with meta magic or would have made the wizard obsolete, as all of its spells have been replicated. Instead, they...

    D&D 5E (2014) Bounded accurancy and skills

Nowhere have I said that there's a ton of prepacked answers and everyone knows everything. I give them a chance to know something. With a rarer creature, it's a lower chance, if they're very intelligent, there's a higher chance. There is a distinct difference between having the players know...

    D&D 5E (2014) Bounded accurancy and skills

I would allow a basic intelligence check, and then let the players try to convince me that the history of the area might give them a better idea, or arcana might give them insight into this weird skeleton thing. I realize that it's not RAW, but I don't know what those characters have gone...

    D&D 5E (2014) Bounded accurancy and skills

Does your DM have you start your characters the moment they're born? Because that's incredibly harsh and goes against what the knowledge skills are really about, i.e. something your character might know but not the player.

    D&D 5E (2014) I have the DMG!

Nah nothing like that. I did the same thing for when people had the Monster Manual early, as I like to be pleasantly surprised with the small details inside each book. :) I've already spoiled myself too much with the previews as it is!

    D&D 5E (2014) I have the DMG!

As much as I want to bug Nikosandros for information, I have to steer clear of this thread from now on. There's really nothing like opening a good DandD book and pouring through its pages for a solid 6 hours!

D&D 5E (2014) Experience with Legendary Resistance: How is it working for you?

I've thrown 4 Legendary monsters at my players from level 6-13, and I am not experiencing any of the challenges you have. Yes, the PCs are going to hit a single creature powerfully, they are going to do lot of damage, and they are going to kill it quickly if they are at full capacity. Remember...

D&D 5E (2014) The Wonkiness of Tool Proficiency

Well it is kind of those things, but not at the same time. By RAW, you can't gain proficiency in new skills, but you can in tools. That's one big difference. What do you mean by this? You don't use skills for tools, you use ability checks. Someone else already said this in the thread, and it's...

D&D 5E (2014) Experience with Legendary Resistance: How is it working for you?

Except, as Tormyr said, the way 5E works is that many of the creatures below those levels can still be viable encounters for high level PCs. Not to mention that most of those legendary monsters are dragons, aboleths, liches, and the like, where there will only be one of those in any given...

D&D 5E (2014) Experience with Legendary Resistance: How is it working for you?

It pretty much has to be. In which case, what's the point of complaining about a feature that they didn't even really use correctly in the first place? Seems very odd to me.

D&D 5E (2014) Experience with Legendary Resistance: How is it working for you?

What creature were you fighting that has legendary saves at level 5-9ish? I don't recall any creatures with legendary attributes in that level range but I could be wrong. I'm also going to repeat what other people have said and ask why the legendary creature didn't use his legendary actions to...

*shrug* They don't have to preview anything. I'll take what I can get.

Didn't know if anyone had posted this yet, but here's two more pages, with the Apparatus of Kwalish!

    Rebalancing Feats

Unless the player wants to make a character that's really good at disguising and bluffing people. Remember, feats are for optimizing, they're for specializing. That person is now going to be vastly better at those things than a character who doesn't have them, and only somewhat less powerful in...

    Rebalancing Feats

My point is that they don't really need balancing. Most of the feats are aimed exactly towards fighters, and the others seem to be reasonably good depending on how you want your character. The reverse seems to have happened in your dealing with feats, in that there would be absolutely no point...
