D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

You say "obvious exception" but.... I'm not the one who said they don't exist in D&D. Hells, they're literally in Wild Beyond the Witchlight. You can't say something doesn't exist and then shrug it off when you're proven wrong. And that wasn't even the ONLY way for that kind of thing to show...

I think Says you. Fisher kings exist in the Feywild. Magic items there were made of things like "a sense of wonder." And you can shape plants there into giant shape, then Awaken them.

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

I kinda want the sorcerer=dragon thing to to go away. worst class for representing dragons, even back in 3e. You needed a prestige class for tht and turned yiu into a half-caster, Edit - don't mind the rant. It's dumb to say, I know

Hot take - that spelless class would be a martial character then. So the caster martial divide would then apply

She's a barbarian. They have supernatural strength. That's entirely their gig. It's what they do. Barbarian rages are supernatural.

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

People are saying that mundane people can't beat high level threats without magic. If I need to be more specific, then the people saying farmer can't beat the Lord of Death, I want to know specially why not. And thats not rhetorical. Resistances or tough natural armors are the most obvious...

Does it matter? it's something that a "mundane" character can't do but a barbarian could conceivably do.

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

Why? If y'all want only specific types of supernatural abilities to counter dnd's magical threats, the burden isn't on me. I simply responded to "You need supernatural power to combat supernatural threats." Even a basic +1 weapon enchantment is still enough to be supernaturally sharp...

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

So.... monks, barbs, pallys and rangers all are supernatural to one extent or another. Do people have a problem with the guy using dragon powers to punch angels or the girl benchpressing an ogre for the fun of it?

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

I've got a magic sword and enchanted armor. That counts as supernatural power. So, no reason for a Fighter to not able to do things, no?

And it's extremely common for monsters in DnD to have resistances you need specific weapons for (especially in 3.x) - that's no different than batman showing up with kryptonite nuckles. Planning ahead is kind of an everyone thing in dnd. You don't fight ancient dragons where they can kite you...

D&D General Which Fighting Styles work well with which Subclasses?

The archery fighting style works great with Arcane Archer. But that's because they use a bow. It's hard to rightly say, because the best FS will depend on what weapons you take, which in turn requires asking if SS/GWM still have their power attack function. And what else you're trying to...

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

As an aside.... I find it interesting how many people default to "warlocks are edgewood divine casters" instead of just having a supernatural being for a teacher instead of a humanoid-ran academy. Blue mages vs black mages, if you pardon the FF reference. EDIT lost text, come back...

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

My monk can shoot fire from their fist, foot, or even butt, while flying and exploding. A shadowdancer can teleport and recreate Bad Apple using his mind and an empty wall. Mercy monk can punch the sickness out of someone. Its trivally easy to make a monk subclass based on Jedi with...

Dragon sorcerer subclass spell list Cantrip - Primal Savagery, but the option to use your dragon type instead of acid 1st - absorb elements, chromatic orb 2nd - Alter Self, Chromatic Orb 3rd - Fear, Fly 4th - Polymorph, Conjure minor elementals 5th - Conjure Elements, Summon Draconic Spirit

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

So, here's what I do. ~ all spells need all three VSM components. This is general caster nerf, but a Subtle metamagic buff. ~ throwing out the sor spell list. Instead, at level 1, pick any other full caster spell list. If you want to be wild magic with druid list, go for it. Divine with cleric...

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

You're not making any sense to me here. You said that it doesn't make sense to have supernatural warrior types alongside mundane ones. But we do. And then its a problem now? Is this just another martial v. caster disparity thing?

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

I mean... we have monks, who are by definition supernatural warriors, and barbarians, who have more supernatural subclasses than not. And that's before we start tapping into the half-casters. So its not introducing anything new.

That actually has a super easy fix. Let sorcerers pick from the bard, wizard, cleric or druid list at level 1. Basically, what they tried with the bard. But I find it works with sorcerer.
