D&D General How would you redo 4e?

The only class-specific multiclass feats are the ones that are directly multiclass feats for the most part. It says you're limited to one class, not to one class-specific multiclass feat. It could potentially be read as implied, but it shouldn't be.

D&D General How would you redo 4e?

There isn't one that gave a +2 to hit, but Resourceful Leader and Bravura Leader are two of the most powerful feats in the game — in heroic, in a 6 person party(5 can be affected by it), using approximately 2 APs per 3 combats typically(now 10 APs per 3 combats), average 1.5 hits for an AP...

D&D General How would you redo 4e?

Yeah, MC'ing is really strong — most classes do not have top-tier EDU by 13th level, but many have 2 of each — it is a giant powerup if free. As some quick examples: Wizard: Dark Gathering, Mirage Arcana, Shield Invoker: Thunder of Judgment, Silent Malediction, Demand Judgment Warlord: Vengeance...

    D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

I don't think it hits Black Adam's revenue numbers. I think it on net loses money due to promotion/costs/how revenue from theaters work. Even though the revenue will be apparently very high, somewhere in the low $200 million range or so.

    D&D Movie/TV D&D Movie Hit or Flop?

I think it ends up being Black Adam with slightly better reviews and somewhat worse revenue. And Paramount ends up losing money because of how theaters work and how much they spent on stars/promotions/etc.

D&D General How would you redo 4e?

You just need to be trained in Acrobatics & Arcana, two relatively easy skills to pick up with Bard or via MC'ing Bard. If you have a consistent source of temp hp out of combat, Sensate = +3 power bonus to all skills at 10th. Have a +2 item bonus to all skills and there you are at +9 if a Bard...

D&D General How would you redo 4e?

The original skill challenge had two major issues and that was quickly errata'd. Basically: People choose when they want to go, no forced initiative where Fighter has to make the social scene roll because they won init The skill challenges were originally set up that "difficult" skill challenges...

D&D General How would you redo 4e?

Yeah, "Bounded Accuracy" isn't really used in 5e at all and where it does manage to show up, those are usually the areas that 5e fans all consider the worst parts of 5e. Bad defenses or skills that never go up at all, despite traveling with experts at said skills and lots of traveling downtime...

    D&D 5E (2024) 4e (DnD: Tactics) remake wish list.

5e math is roughly +1/2 per level. i.e. 4e/2. And the 19th level caster nearly auto-hits the 7th level monster and takes it out with any control effect. And then you end up with things that are more easily handled than 4e minions by casters. Which is boring.

    D&D 5E (2024) 4e (DnD: Tactics) remake wish list.

Bounded Accuracy doesn't exist. It is just 4e/2 math made deliberately obscure. You get +9 to hit instead of +18, +6 to important skills instead of +12. Having monsters transform from boss to regular to minion as the PCs gain levels just means that a 7th level monster is easy to use at...

    D&D Movie/TV There's A New Trailer For D&D: Honor Among Thieves

Watching the trailer of Guardians of the Galaxy without spending the time to read any of the text because most people watching a trailer will not bother to do that — show, don't tell: What do they all do? Do any of them have powers? Do we see any scenes that reveal any major plot points of the...

    D&D Movie/TV There's A New Trailer For D&D: Honor Among Thieves

The point is that regardless of whether or not you think anything needs to be explained, they are explicitly explaining the movie in the trailers. Stranger Things not explicitly explaining things is a sign of strength, of confidence that people will get the story that's being told. D&D Movie...

    D&D Movie/TV There's A New Trailer For D&D: Honor Among Thieves

I think I would note two general issues: The trailers are showing too many 'cool' details that in a good film, would be great to see in the actual film — as a very specific point, there's a mimic in a trailer. On what planet do I need to know there's a mimic in the movie given that a point of a...

Ryan Dancey -- Hasbro Cannot Deauthorize OGL

Yeah, the basic problem is this: WotC: "We declare the 1.0a license no longer authorized" Small publisher about to sink $1000 into writing/arting/editing say a PF2 supplement: "uh..." WotC: <glares legally>

D&D General DM Says No Powergaming?

Yup, all this. I think in general, Jeremy Crawford(or someone who works for Crawford) sets out design guidelines, and then R&D kind of follows them? Part of the problem of fuzziness in game design is sometimes no one is clear what one hand is doing — as an example, 5e's typical campaign hands...

D&D General DM Says No Powergaming?

If you have a high enough DC and attacking a bad save, odds are your target doesn't have enough options to get out of it because they're likely to be hit and then they are rarely making a saving throw. That's save or suck. And again, this is base 5e. Optimized parties tend to have a Paladin who...

D&D General DM Says No Powergaming?

Sure 5e is a rocket tag game. Most PCs/Monsters by default have 3-4 bad saving throws and at least 2 of the big 3. Casters have access to multi-targeting incapacitate early on and eventually, you get to the point where you can have very high odds of incapacitating an entire encounter with one...

D&D General DM Says No Powergaming?

I think this is an example of why a session 0 is a good thing and why it is good to get buy-in. DM: "I want to make the game feel challenging. I don't want to get into a game of 'team who goes first wins rocket tag' in order to challenge you. I'd also like to see everyone in roughly the same...
