D&D 5E (2024) Mearls has some Interesting Ideals about how to fix high level wizards.

I think in the past they tried to cater specifically to super fans, and it didnt work out. Its far easier to loose the 80% than the 20%. The super fans are gonna reluctantly stick around. Its true some will gravitate to Vampire, or D20's, or Pathfinder, or 13th age, or daggerwhatever, etc...

RPG Evolution: The Quest for the Table

Building a gamer community and finding an in person group are not exactly the same. I think communities are built around organized play. The advantage of that is no person is critical (perhaps except for the organizer). Players can show up at their convenience. New players are always arriving...

D&D General Hypothetical: D&D without ability scores (or bonuses)

I get that, kind of. I've reached a point with D&D that its just got a certain look and feel. Like, if you turned Monopoly into a euro a lot of folks would think thats better. I'd say the essence of Monopoly would be gone along with the feel in that instance. Just make another game without...

D&D General Hypothetical: D&D without ability scores (or bonuses)

Why is it bad? Why cant we have D&D and have other RPGs?

D&D 5E (2024) Mearls has some Interesting Ideals about how to fix high level wizards.

Yeap, I think they stayed true to big tent or what I like to call "everybody's second favorite edition" with 5.24. 5.24 is upsetting because of all this conventional wisdom begin shared here in this thread by super fans. The type of folks who play the crap out of the game, spend time during the...

1 Shot Campaigns, and throw away characters.

I actually prefer some styles and genres to be one shots. In that case, I spend much less focus on the character aspects (species, ancestry, ethnicity) and more of a focus on the setting and story. Really leaning into the genre conventions. Its a nice change of pace.

Can totally work in an RPG. It wouldnt be D&D to me though.

The Running Man | Official Trailer

Not particularly. Glen;'s hammy performance was the only thing I enjoyed. Flick had major act 3 problems too.

The Running Man | Official Trailer

I saw it last week on the stream. I thought Glen was great he hammed it up in Arnie fashion. This remake felt right, looked right, but the script sucked and I don’t see folks coming around to this.

D&D 5E (2024) Mearls has some Interesting Ideals about how to fix high level wizards.

I want to agree with this, I basically do in that 5E is too simple for me. Yet, I see all the time, here and all over the internet, that 5E is too complicated. I dont think its safe to say that most people feel this way.

What Is Your Favorite Linear Adventure/Campaign

I really enjoyed Carrion Crown AP by Paizo. Its a mystery follow the trail of breadcrumbs. While each chapter isnt linear in the A to B to C sense, the clues do send you to the next town which acts as a monster of the week module.

Sure, a lot will come down to preference. I dont really like any of these games, while I can admit they are not bad games. Id expect 6E, which I dont expect for a good long time, to follow this path. Assuming thats a goal for D&D. I kinda see D&D having a lot in common with Monopoly. Folks...

    Star Wars prequel questions

Oh that... Yeah im not sure who was at the helm of this fun ride but its got some truly shocking decisions. I recall in the pilot episode that Kermit had left miss piggy for a younger pig. They jumped into a lot of adult pop culture hot points that we would refer to as the culture war today.

D&D 5E (2024) Mearls has some Interesting Ideals about how to fix high level wizards.

Sure, I get now what you are saying. PF2 is an encounters game thinly veiled as an adventuring day attrition one. PC building is simple, and combat is bump, set, spike, hidden behind walls of text. Which is pretty much how 4E was for me which is why I dont play either of them.

So you been dumping hard on PF2, but your conclusions are quite strange compared to my experience. PF2 may look complex, but everything is so completely silo'd that its actually rather simple. The engine doesnt allow "build absurdities" because its so tightly bound. It does a great deal to go...
