D&D General When Did Digital Art Become A Thing?

Yeah but the non-digital you see in the finished movie is the scanned background. And it that isn't enough to make it digital then neither is this (which also used scanned painted background and digitally drawn characters.)

D&D General When Did Digital Art Become A Thing?

"where the animation drawings are inked and painted by digital artists" does mean the finished animation art is digital. Lots of digital artists still use traditional sketches for ideas and figuring out gestures. (Frank Quietly does the opposite I think: digital sketch and layouts and then ink...

D&D General Art Thread! What does a D&D wizard look like?

The problem is that all three — druid, sorcerer, and wizard — have a lot of the same visual cues except that one wear fur and don't have crystals on their staff, one has robes and crystals on their staffs, and the last have robes and no staff. There's too much overlap for a certain "it's this...

D&D General Backstories: good, bad or whatever?

Speaking as a GM: I want player characters to have connections to the world, to NPCs, to locations, and possibly to events if you want. And I want it to be brief. We'll discover more as it goes along. Characters who have not ties to anything takes so much work to get going in the campaigns and...

Critical Role's 'Daggerheart' Open Playtest Starts In March

It does give a bonus: the character is now alive. This might also be a balancing thing where low wound threshold mages get more abilities on their domain cards compared to a high wound threshold warrior.

Critical Role's 'Daggerheart' Open Playtest Starts In March

Due to scars and wound thresholds, I would assume there's some balancing for higher levels there: wizards and bards have less hope to spend than fighters who mitigate damage better and don't need to take scars. I assume, someone needs to playtest. :D

Critical Role's 'Daggerheart' Open Playtest Starts In March

It's really hard to not be inspired by some part of DnD when you make heroic fantasy but that also depends on what you feel DnD is. For me it's the rules not the settings. (And personally, I think parts of Forgotten Realms and a very cosmopolitan Greyhawk would make far more sense and be better...

Critical Role's 'Daggerheart' Open Playtest Starts In March

The current classes have domains annexed in the radius, if future classes do across the diameter then it might be something like arcana & blade or codex & bone.

Critical Role's 'Daggerheart' Open Playtest Starts In March

Class removed from what? DnD? Well yes, this game isn't DnD even if its high fantasy adventures. It doesn't need to adhere to the player's handbook — I wish they'd been a little more inventive with the classes as is and had a different magic class than wizard.

Critical Role's 'Daggerheart' Open Playtest Starts In March

It might be possible they're keeping Exandria in D&D, but if it were me I'd really want a campaign in another system and world after 9 years (on stream).

Free League Announces Coriolis: The Great Dark

I mean, I can see the marines influence in the 40k, but thats the most boring part of Aliens to me — I like the working-class horror of the first movie and the spiritual-clinging-to-hope-when-we-deserve-none of the third. And I for me, horror and grimdark isn't really the same thing. It's hard...

Free League Announces Coriolis: The Great Dark

I don't know since I'm not getting any of those vibes. But then again, I don't care about wh40k at all so... What I do get is what if Saladin Ahmed wrote Blade Runner/Alien crossed with Alastair Reynolds Revelation Space.
