D&D General When Was it Decided Fighters Should Suck at Everything but Combat?

I personally prefer the 1d10 bonus to any check rather than the pretty specific circumstantial bonuses that knacks give you. It comes online for everything earlier and has more impact. Through I think the knacks are in themselves interesting.

Every household now wants a Nimblewraith servant that attends to all the heavy chores.

What Is Your Favorite Linear Adventure/Campaign

Sorry, I never replied to this. The original introduction scenario titled ‘The Enemy Within’ and the adventure Shadows over Bogenhafen were combined in the Enemy in Shadows. It has some extra elements and more detail for running. Part four Horned Rat is basically a complete brand new chapter...

D&D General When Was it Decided Fighters Should Suck at Everything but Combat?

Since 2024 launched, Fighters get to add their second wind to failed ability checks now. Gained at 2nd level, before subclass choices. Not to mention said subclasses giving all kinds of movement, extra skills etc. Feels there has been a concerted effort to correct this. They can now be excellent...

D&D General Running a Megadungeon in a Monthly Game

I was a player in @GuyBoy ‘s Scarlet Citadel and we played for about four hours monthly and it was very enjoyable. He has also ran Rappan Athuk for us combined with Keep on the Borderlands and I must say that was a blast. Either would be great. Honestly I don’t think it’s necessary to finish a...

    D&D 5E (2024) No 5.5 AP Yet?

To be honest so was I. Here are some examples of what I'm talking about from Dragonheist and again from Curse of Strahd. You can see the same in Tomb of Annihilation, Rime of the Frostmaiden, Wild beyond the Witchlight, Tyranny of the Dragon Queen, Shattered Obelisk and Vecna. I definitely...

    A game for WH40K

Ha ha no problem. Kill team is a pretty good game if you’re interested in a relatively inexpensive and time-practical w40k game. 5-15 models. Many many small factions. It’s a pretty good game. Towards the end of my wargaming days I pretty much exclusively played that.

    D&D 5E (2024) No 5.5 AP Yet?

They literally do that in every adventure campaign book I’ve read? They’re usually 25-35 pages of NPC details, with art, profiles and backgrounds…

    A game for WH40K

Crazy idea. If it’s a time travel short run thing. Why not go all out and run W40k Kill Team rules. Much simplified and streamlined but you could potentially run some really interesting stuff. Particularly if it doesn’t kill their character but just ends that foray down the time stream.

    D&D 5E (2024) No 5.5 AP Yet?

If you’re talking about RvR, his introduction in the Blue Water Inn explains who he is, what his plan is, and how he interacts with the PCs. His NPC write up in the appendix then elaborates on his back story and gives some supplemental information. Definitely worth re-reading those sections. He...

    D&D 5E (2024) No 5.5 AP Yet?

My 5 year old nephew uses his magnaclips to make his own games. No one told him he could or couldn’t. Intelligent, creative people - that I’ve always found most gamers to be - don’t really need permission to do anything. Neither do they need leading by the nose. I’ve seen new players borrowing...

D&D 5E (2024) Is WOTC done publishing campaigns?

Different players find different things enjoyable. Splitting them between enhanced and disengaged feels pretty dismissive to be honest.

    Imperium Maledictum

Yes, definitely. I’ve heard that 5e of the fantasy rules is going to draw a lot of inspiration from the system to streamline 4e. I think it’s sensible.
