D&D 5E (2024) New Feats, avenues to diversity?

I will start a subclasses that feels much more unique with expanded feats, there is more to the character, some suboptimal.. but I will try to paraphrase. Half-orc, Champion, "gambler", Origin: Lord's Alliance, GWM, Purple Dragon commandant. Greataxe, longbow mastery. Plays loose with life, so...

D&D 5E (2024) New Feats, avenues to diversity?

So I've pretty much been running off any '24 DnD materials, including expansion content: Astarion's, Faerun, etc.. What new feats have gotten creative juices flowing? Any synergy? DMs rebranding setting specifics?... constructive ideas please, though feel free to mention nonbos if anyone idea...

    D&D 5E (2024) Forgotten Realms subclasses discussion.

I will just come on here and rip the bananaramarette.. it misses the mark imo. More healing on a martial to reflect battlefield command. It feels more like the support feats are a feat tax to fill out the character... purple dragon commandment, et al. Feels like a few subclasses are borderline...

What makes setting lore "actually matter" to the players?

This is good. In our setting alot of it falls under "very few knows" category, it has been some adjustment by my players to not metaknowledge things that tennured fantasy RPers might assume is common knowledge. Our party Wiz, is just starting to get good at some investigate/arcana to make a...

What makes setting lore "actually matter" to the players?

I try to keep in mind (with lore), how ridulously "foggy" our societal recollection is regarding events 1000+ years ago. Particularly if you are traveling to less civilized regions (or fallen civs)... So, I have my DM EXACT events of the past in mind, vs what tidbits of this past is "common...

What makes setting lore "actually matter" to the players?

Making lore matter is still a work-in-progress for me. Alot of it has been a slow-burn. I have some stuff in the works that I feel make the lore legitimately matter. I implied that if players want to canonize certain cultures and character aspects there can be some magic items and exp rewards...

Purple Dragon Knight Retooled as Banneret in D&D's Heroes of Faerun Book

Haha, yep because our definition of command support is... healing. Might as well retool your fantasy to World Tree Barb, then you have all around less ass with healing as well

Purple Dragon Knight Retooled as Banneret in D&D's Heroes of Faerun Book

I like a support fighter.. if its abilities aren't such ass. From what I've seen, I will still end up going Paladin or BM due to the assness of the abilities

D&D General Thoughts about Purple Dragon Knights

Well that party is just itching for an evil storm to ground them. Also, maybe a ballista that gets OA in ambush situations

Game Balance, what is it to you, why is it important, and what if you all but threw it out?

I don't have my players "fight" full-aged dragons much. I think the one time I did, the dragon dealt MASSIVE exhaustion out in the form of lair action/legendary. To the point of where one player doffed their armor and actions were spent not drowning... IMO if you write ahead of time the scaling...

    D&D 5E (2024) Eldritch Knight

Battlemaster is "better" for like, maybe 4 rounds of combat then poops out hard, no cantrips there. Maybe level 15 is a different story. Correct on lv 10 champion though. IMO, the intent is probably as you say though and EK suffers a small bit from RAW/ forgotten component contingency...

    D&D 5E (2024) Eldritch Knight

Works for me. I don't use the relic "__ blade" stuff myself... but that is juice for a different thread where I would get annihilated by people that like those spells 😀

    D&D 5E (2024) Eldritch Knight

I see the next post now. Yeah I'd interpret allies as not providing the OA condition. But I do believe warcaster would allow a sort of OA while you have focus in-hand. Since there is conversation about draw, stow, draw. Or you could always go weapon + focus and ditch shield... though equipping...

    D&D 5E (2024) Eldritch Knight

Doesn't it say cast a spell AT THE CREATURE?

    D&D 5E (2024) Eldritch Knight

If you go warcaster (I think) would allow opportunity attack with a spell I think... then again, I mostly play martials, so I don't muse over GISH builds so much

New Unearthed Arcana Brings Back Five Subclasses

I see I am in the minority on this one, so hopefully others on the survey kick the subclass up a notch, as you imply is needed. I do find it needs some thematic creativity to explain all the biome flip-flopping
