I have very fond memories of a book called The Magister. It had new items and spells that probably became redundant later on, but at the time, the book was pretty unique. I think it was all Realms specific stuff.

Spelljammer campaign. The wizard zapped a demi-lich with a lightning bolt, and the demi-lich immediately responded with hellfire that dropped the wizard to Dying (but he got better).

I like the maps and names of locations. Players have some ongoing familiarity so it feels more grounded. I don't follow canon or novels. It just do whatever I want with the maps and cities and terrain and gods and whatever.

I love alignment. If I play some game that doesn't use it I add it back in. Monster statblocks that don't have alignment annoy me. I like to know at a glance what a monster leans to. Is that weird thing LG or CE?
