    D&D 5E (2024) Reworking the 2024 Hiding rules

Yeah. Invisible means you can't be seen (by regular means)...hiding means you just haven't been seen yet.

How to Delay or Avoid GM Burnout

Apparently it is true for some of us and we would thank you for not minimizing our experiences. Its fantastic that you have the greatest gaming experience ever with each and every group of players you have ever played with. But CLEARLY that is not the case for everyone who has, is and ever...

How to Delay or Avoid GM Burnout

I didn’t give any advice in the previous post so here it is….take a break. Just don’t DM for a while. Someone else can give it a go. Suggest board games etc. to fill the void. When the players notice that they aren’t playing an RPG….have a serious conversation about why.

How to Delay or Avoid GM Burnout

Players almost never care about the game as much as the DM. That’s just the cold hard truth. Even when you ask them what they want and then custom tailor to their suggestions….they still find ways to make you feel like you’ve wasted your time. I think this is why no one wants to DM. It’s...

    D&D 5E (2024) Reworking the 2024 Hiding rules

I think using the invisible condition language will turn this into a 2500 post thread. I'll get the pop corn. 🍿;)

It seemed silly to me more than difficult. We barely used rules at all back in the before times. But I don’t represent a side…just myself.

D&D General So what about the SRDs?

You’re a publisher so of course you know what’s what. No doubt. I’m saying there are a lot of Monday morning coaches that are trying to out expert one another. That’s a sports metaphor so it’s probably wrong.

    I think it’s a fairly universal truth.

D&D General So what about the SRDs?

I think the general expertise people think they have with OGLs and SRDs isn’t quit what they think it is.

D&D General [rant]The conservatism of D&D fans is exhausting.

What is and isn’t difficult is relative. With different personalities and learning styles…saying something isn’t hard is dismissive. Not only that, some people just don’t like the same things other people like. It should say something that of all the “sacred cows” D&D held onto…Thac0 wasn’t...

How many years does it take for an RPG to become nostalgic, for you?

My nostalgia comes from the shared narrative. The story we create. The rule set is at best a crutch to help facilitate that narrative. I’m not much of a nostalgia person anyway. Our best times should be ahead of us.
