I'm not one to label things. I play the game and see what each situation calls for. Sometimes rules are strictly adhered to...other times....what will make this moment more (insert adjective here). From time to time DMs tell the party what's what....other times, it's the other way around.

Nothing "should" be fudged...but all things "can" be fudged.

Good debate requires that people disagree. I'm not qualified to discuss why people are they way they are and react the way that they do. I wish you well in your travels.

A game where PCs get to just wander to and fro with no regard for any kind of plot or organized…anything of any kind is not appealing to me. To me it just seems disjointed and chaotic. Seems like a lot of people enjoy this type of game. Play the game how you like of course.
