D&D 5E (2014) Is Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden the New D&D Adventure?

Indeed, Lost Mines of Phandelver is really the only 5e adventure ready to be run with few preparation, I would also love seeing more adventures like it

D&D 5E (2014) Is Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden the New D&D Adventure?

I have seen many posts where people say they don't like Aquisitions Inc., and I sincerely wonder why. Is it the tone and the art, that are quite different for the usual ones? I can understand it's a turn off for some people, but the content is solid. The franchise idea can be used for many...

D&D 5E (2014) Is Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden the New D&D Adventure?

The semi-independent adventures are often not-so independent... You can indeed play them stand-alone, but it feels weird, and you often miss things. I fully see the interest of WotC on selling Adventure Paths, but (again personally) I would find more useful setting guides with some short...

D&D 5E (2014) Is Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden the New D&D Adventure?

It seems legit, indeed! And the cover is pretty! Personally, I only hope it isn't a full campaign, for 1st level characters advancing then to 10th or 15th level. My players would love to have some adventures in the wild cold North, but they wouldn't like a full one year campaign on it... I...

Looking for a tabletop RPG to capture a certain 'grim Slavic' vibe

You can dial up or down the grimness, but the base level is way more grim Slavic that happy fantasy...

D&D General How much dice do you own?

I had said between 50 and 100... and then I began to count them, and it was more than 120... I think I have a dice problem...

    D&D 5E (2014) To much 5th edition content?

I find the current slow pace rather comforting, because I don't feel flooded by products. And when I want/need something more or different, there is a whole 3rd party ecosystem to look at with some wonderful stuff...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Space Opera!

The pitch is really interesting, looking forward to read more :) OK, I am a self assumed old timer, but what about a Story Hour on it? ;)

D&D 5E (2014) What kind of planar book do you hope for?

As a longtime Planescape fan, I would love to see some kind of Nameless One's guide to SIgil and the Planes. Setting, rules and an adventure, with gorgeous DiTerlizzi art. Something that would make young players feel the same awe I felt some 25 years ago when I opened my Planescape box...

Looking for a tabletop RPG to capture a certain 'grim Slavic' vibe

Mythic Russia is just that. It uses the HeroQuest game system (the one used for Glorantha), and it's written by Marc Galeotti, a real scholar on Russian matter and deeply passionate on Russian history and myths. Mythic Russia is one of my favorite RPG, and simple reading it is a true pleasure...

In the mountain, the mighty mountain, the Liontaur sleeps tonight ....

In fact, I agree with you, I knew immediately what you meant by Liontaur, or Wolftaur. And the Centaur example goes on your side, yep :) In any case, the Liontaur art is GREAT!

In the mountain, the mighty mountain, the Liontaur sleeps tonight ....

Well, I have looked both at Wikipedia (I know, I know) and Merrian-Webster dictionary, both are formal, as my old History teacher at school: Minotaur (Ancient Greek: Μινώταυρος [miːnɔ̌ːtau̯ros]; in Latin as Minotaurus [miːnoːˈtau̯rʊs]). The word Minotaur derives from the Ancient Greek...

In the mountain, the mighty mountain, the Liontaur sleeps tonight ....

I detest to be the guy who uses etymology to crash your product, but the taur of Minotaur doesn't mean half man half something, it comes from taurus, and it means bull... Mino comes from Minos, Minotaur could be translated as "Bull of Minos". So Liontaur, Goattaurs, Wolftaurs, Rattaurs or Taurs...

    D&D 5E (2014) Dear WotC: D&D 5, Hero Lab, and the OGL

Let's give them some time, people... I agree it would be better to have an OGL-like licence from the beginning, but look at the bright side, we already have a free as in beer D&D Basic. I hope than in six months we will also have it free as in speech, with a nice open licence. They are not...

    D&D 5E (2014) Humorous disclaimer in D&D Basic

Today is a great day, a new edition of D&D, and one I know I'm going to love (like my beloved 3.x)... So I was reading Basic PDF from (vitual) cover to (virtual) cover, and in the credits page I stumbled upon one of the best disclaimers I've ever seen in a RPG book: As I guessed some people...

Pathfinder 1E What can 5e Give us that Pathfinder doesn't

I have been out of EN World literally for years, since before 4E. I bought 4E, like most of us, I've even played it,, heck, I've even liked it! I've played Pathfinder, a lot, because even if I liked 4E, it never looked as D&D to me. So Pathfinder was the best solution for those moments of I...
