Goodman Games: Our Efforts Have Been Mischaracterized

Yeah. My friends were asking if I would run a Funnel on their gaming podcast. I was considering it, but it would feel wrong to support Goodman at this point.

    Kickstarters by YouTube influencers

Looks like you made the better decision. :) Still don't know if I "needed" 13A 2e either. Probably should've skipped many of my Kickstarters. These days, I'm avoiding most crowdfunding products.

    Kickstarters by YouTube influencers

Not a flop as far as the funding goes since it made $2.2 million on Kickstarter. But yeah, will be "at least a year" before any physical books will be done. And what we're gonna get likely won't touch the quality of systems like Nimble. Oh well. That's a $145 pledge of disappointment from me.

    Kickstarters by YouTube influencers

All the design is basically being handled by the community playtests. Dungeon Coach basically has no idea or plan for the project. When asked about the action economy being similar to Pathfinder, he essentially admitted he knows no systems beyond 5e D&D. Playtests can be fine. But they should...

    Kickstarters by YouTube influencers

At the time, both YouTuber Dungeon Coach's DC20 and 13th Age 2nd edition were being crowd-funded at the same time. I ended up cancelling my pledge for 13th Age and moved it to DC20 because of the exposure of the DC system. It seemed that several times a day, DC was interviewing, discussing game...

    Kickstarters by YouTube influencers

Roll for Combat has had several Kickstarters. Most recently, Battlezoo Ancestries: Living Legends. Battlezoo Ancestries: Living Legends for Pathfinder and 5E, via @Kickstarter...

    Does anyone have Kickstarter regrets?

Stuff I'm never going to use: Savage Rifts (and all expansions), Savage Pathfinder (and all expansions), Draw Steel, Kingdoms and Warfare, Strongholds and Followers, several Battlezoo Pathfinder products (Dragons, Strange and Unusual), Shadowdark Western Reaches. I probably have more. I backed a...

Daggerheart Sold Out in Two Weeks, Has Three-Year Plan in Place

Right. I'm already seeing characters repeating the same powers. But for me, it's having outlines of campaign frames, sketches of characters, only a handful of unique monsters at each tier, limited items - all of which limits the length of a campaign. Also, it has skill challenges in place of...

Daggerheart Sold Out in Two Weeks, Has Three-Year Plan in Place

I really enjoy Daggerheart. I'm running two campaigns currently (Witherwild and Motherboard). I'm finding that I like it more than I've liked D&D in 20+ years. But I don't think it has enough content or interest for me to fuel years of gaming. It's sort of like Dungeon World or something - good...

Daggerheart Sold Out in Two Weeks, Has Three-Year Plan in Place

My players often resort to tag teams when they're facing adversaries that are generating clocks. For example, I think the Medusa will turn someone to stone after X# Actions. So it makes sense to combine turns.

    Pathfinder Announces Two New Rulebooks

That would work for the last half. I'm 11th level currently.

Dungeons & Dragons Playtests Four New Mystic-Themed Subclasses

I don't follow the playtest stuff, but isn't this typically just released as a Beta and then never actually published?

You know - as an April Fool's episode - I was considering it.

    D&D 5E (2024) How Many HP Should 5E 2024 Minions Have

I like the way minions are handled in "Flee Mortals!" (Any successful hit will kill one; if you go over the damage threshold, you can kill another one.) The damage threshold of a minion at 11th level is 18.

Is My Campaign Going Too Fast?

I can slow it down now that they're experiencing higher levels. The problem is that they're chomping at the bit to go to the "end game." Them: "We've got to go to the Imperial Capital and take out the evil emperor." Me: "Well, that's the end of the campaign. Are you ready to stop playing?"...

Goodman Games: Our Efforts Have Been Mischaracterized

I've sometimes wondered what an RPG would look like that was a solo experience - but for a GM. Like you design your campaign world, get to invest points into certain player archetypes, have a specific amount of plot complications that you can add, etc. Maybe it could even double as a journaling...
