D&D 5E (2024) Mearls has some Interesting Ideals about how to fix high level wizards.

maybe that is what you remember, but the 3.5 sales were lower than the 3e sales (according to Ben Riggs) and both dropped off fast or we would not have gotten 3.5 three years after 3e and 4e five years after 3.5. 3e, 3.5, and 4e all sold decently for their first year, but dropped off fast, and...

that 2500% is a BS number. It were true if you expected the sales of the first two weeks to continue at that rate for the rest of the year. It is selling great for Darrington Press, no doubt, but I would like some absolute numbers rather than relative ones. then maybe they should not have...

and don’t forget that all the TSR lines shed sales fast, despite lasting for many years 1e and 2e do not look all that different either…

ok, so when is the long term then, and also who is to say how it does in another 10 or 20 years based on whatever iteration they make in the meantime A new version always has some people not liking it, that is nothing new (and yes, I do not like 2024 myself). As to sales, all I have heard is...

D&D 5E (2024) Mearls has some Interesting Ideals about how to fix high level wizards.

it’s been over 10 years, no other edition came close to having good sales for more than a year or two. When does the short term end? I don’t think anyone said ‘all simple all the time’. Also, a game is not evergreen when the same 500k people keep playing it for two decades, it is evergreen when...

D&D 5E (2024) Mearls has some Interesting Ideals about how to fix high level wizards.

If 5e is the ‘make every class simple’ edition, then that approach seems to work extraordinarily well…

he is working on his own game(s), not D&D. Those seem to go to level 10, with this being their progression to higher levels, so I assume we will see the others eventually, but obviously the mage needs a solution more than the fighter does, so that was the starting point

I am in the same boat, but 5e does not hit my personal sweet spot anyway, I want a somewhat simpler version, and grittier. Still the best D&D edition though

What I Like About Nimble 2e (So Far) — A Partial Review

tell that to the casters… if they always succeed at casting complicated magic, I see no reason why a fighter should not always hit and just determine the severity of the hit since hit points are not meat points, weak hits can be misses that you avoid but tire you

What I Like About Nimble 2e (So Far) — A Partial Review

since there is only one roll left, I am not sure how you distinguish between which one was eliminated… unless you still have a roll to determine whether you hit and if your did you dealt fixed damage, but that is not how Nimble does it…

What Systems Could Use More Attention?

I was more thinking of it from a ‘show the differences to 5e’ perspective, and those are not as highlighted in a one-shot imo To me games like Draw Steel work better for that as the differences become apparent immediately

    D&D 5E (2024) Predict WotC's 2026 D&D releases

I don’t care about historical importance, when I take a plane I’d certainly avoid the Kitty Hawk Flyer at all cost, even if it was historically important. Not sure I am feeling any ripples either.

    D&D 5E (2024) How I would do 6E.

possibly, I would be perfectly ok with D&D ending at 10th level. With my half-caster enforcement I might stretch that out another 2 to 4 levels

    D&D 5E (2024) How I would do 6E.

I disagree, fighters , barbarians etc. should obviously be better with weapons than any caster I agree that everyone should be able to do more than swing a sword, I’d hate if that more always were magic however. To me all of 5e is already too high magic. This just makes things worse. I want...

    D&D 5E (2024) Predict WotC's 2026 D&D releases

I would not have included White Plume in the first place. Whichever ones I would include, I would have updated similar to what they did with the Infinite Staircase however, rather than taking something that is a pretty poor adventure to begin with and not changing anything about it, just...
