What videogames are you playing in 2026?

No, certainly not. It does tend to be confused with Sekiro, which came out around the same time. Ghost of Tsushima is a standard open world game, no soulslike game mechanics at all.

What videogames are you playing in 2026?

Have you played Ghost of Tsushima? It does have a similarly large-scale open world experience, though you do need to go through a few specific quests early on to unlock some of your main abilities. Once that's done, though, there's plenty to explore in the wider world, and no need to engage with...

What videogames are you playing in 2026?

It has a certain "cowboy simulator" aspect to it such that you need to do a degree of routine upkeep to keep your character in tip-top condition. It's less extreme than survival modes in games like Fallout 4 but still in a similar vein.

What videogames are you playing in 2026?

Have you tried Avowed? It has a fairly large environmental exploration element interspersed with its various quests and side quests, and you can easily while away some time doing nothing very much if you're not into engaging with the main plot right now.

What Geek Media Do You Refuse To Partake In?

Eurgh. Spider-Man clone saga. So many changes introduced over a long run of stories, only for each and every one of them to be painstakingly reversed and set back to an established status quo, regardless of how ludicrous the explanations were for some of them (I mean, Darth Maul returning has...

What videogames are you playing in 2026?

I've put a lot of hours into BG3, I'm way beyond "at first". Other games, XCOM 2 for instance, include vertical controls that BG3 lacks. Even zooming the view right out or going into overhead view often still leaves high level features such as rafters inaccessible if your character is at ground...

What videogames are you playing in 2026?

The only thing that really frustrates me about the camera in BG3 is a lack of decent altitude control. In a game with so much verticality in maps, being unable to properly aim at or view a higher level can be really limiting.

"Cling to the highest branch you can." Evil or good makes no difference to her, in her mind the entire nation she's surrounded by is evil. What matters is that they're on the top, and being at the top is the only way to survive.

It's tricky to find them, you've got to be something of a pinball wizard.

What Geek Media Do You Refuse To Partake In?

At some point (not sure if it's still true anymore) it was for copyright reasons, believe it or not. The wave of Holmes productions like Sherlock and Elementary came out in the wake of the earlier run of Holmes short stories leaving copyright, but the Conan Doyle estate insisted that the...

Spoilers Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

As I recall we had a similar situation in the UK, at some point half of Lower Decks was available on Amazon, and the other half was on Paramount+. These days I subscribe to Paramount+ via Prime, but only when there's new Star Trek on. I will miss having older Trek series available on Netflix...

    Spoilers Falllout season 2 discussion

Pretty much every game has had one or two. One of your companions in Fallout 3 is a supermutant who's a bit of a philosopher, and in Fallout 4 there's a supermutant scientist.

Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord

Yeah, "somehow Maul returned" would actually feel more satisfying in comparison.

What Geek Media Do You Refuse To Partake In?

I gave up on House after the episode when he took an MRI machine out of commission trying to prove he knew better than the people who operated it full-time. That was an act that actually put patients at risk, and I'd had enough of the character's crap at that point.

It was indeed. Just pointing out that it can have other effects depending upon how it's deployed. How it's intended to be used in vaults 32 and 33 remains to be seen.

F.E.V. is a directed mutagenic virus. It drives the body to adapt to whatever environmental stresses it's currently being subjected to. It was initially used in combination with massive radiation exposure in an attempt to develop rad-resistant humans, resulting in the supermutants, but change...

What videogames are you playing in 2026?

I'm just starting out playing Ghost of Yotei. Not quite feeling the immediate connection to the main character that I did in Ghost of Tsushima, but the gameplay feels comfortably familiar and I'm looking forward to exploring further.
