    101 Exciting Fight Locations

Found these threads to be useful for my own game. (Excuse the references to Eberron areas, thats where my game is set) 1) The lava pits below Sharn. Much like Revenge of the Sith, the players must manuever on low flying harvesters over the lava. 2) An airship flying near the Floating Towers...

    "Standard Thief S***"

Sounds like that stuff is boring to the player. (I know from my own perspective, its tedious on both sides of the screen) Unless it matters, I just handwave it...then there's no work on either side. Interactive traps I generally notify the player. "Something seems odd about this door" then...

What do you think about action points?

I looked for the thread, but I'm not a paying member so I don't have the search function. Its a combination of APs (from Eberron) and Hero Points from M&M. He also detailed turning in APs for crafting xp. Hopefully he will poke his head in here. If you do have the search function, I...

What do you think about action points?

I use Piratecat's system. When I gave the players the printout, they went, "Who's Kevin?" Guess I should have editted it first.

    Gear Matters

One of my favorite parts of the complete series was the gear. My biggest dissapointment in the Complete Divine was that its gear section was Relics, which are pretty much worthless to me. I wouldn't mind seeing more non-magical gear though. Something like the Black Company setting offers...

    The PCs ditched the McGuffin...

I don't get this. The players are not interested in the plot, how is that stupidity on thier part?

    The problem of sundering

If you don't want to be sundered, play an oathsworn. :) (Or alternatively, if you want to make your party angry, play a PC oathsworn with imp sunder) :p

    [OOTS] sympathy for Xycon

Yeah, I ran a shadowrun session based on a guy trying to get revenge on the pcs when they had no idea who he was. Some security guard that had been shot by the pcs way in the past. Was a great session. "You ruined my life!" "Who are you again?"

"Campaign..meh, but I like my character"

Good points. So how does a GM get the players invested into the campaign, so they see beyond thier character and become a part of the world? (I'm asking these questions just for discussion's sake, not as a question for my own campaign)

"Campaign..meh, but I like my character" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've noticed when folks are talking about a game they are not that invested in, they will inevitably say, but I like my character. The purpose of this thread is to...

[Game Design] Will Wright on Story and Game

Celebrim's post does illuminate some of the problems Ive had. If the GM and the players are sharing an ultimate goal in what they want the story to accomplish, then the game can run pretty smoothly. The GM has an idea where the players want to go, and he can prepare without totally scripting...

What Makes DnD Fun For You?

Agree with Phindar. In gameplay however, my favorite part is scouring my character sheet between actions and trying to find some original way to fight the bad guy. Either by spell, wierd action, or gear used in an interesting way. Standing still and whacking a bad guy with a super combo makes...

[Game Design] Will Wright on Story and Game

Read the advice, and I think it would work pretty well for the player/GMs, the others would wonder why they aren't rolling initiative. I've got a pretty mixed group. For now, I've tried to channel plot discussion and player input to a forums that we have set up, but its been slow going...

[Game Design] Will Wright on Story and Game

Even when I get them to tell me what they want, and I try to provide it, they still just wait for the train to come rolling. I wonder if I have trained them to do that over the years of playing? Or possibly, for all their talk of wanting to drive thier own destiny, they really don't want to...
