Night Below: An Underdark Campaign...help me decide!

Agree with Psion. Book 3 would probably fit your needs most. However, that said, Book 1 was a blast to play. It has some great encounters and fun locations. Book 2, while well written is simply not fun to play after a while. (Trolls...again?) The main problem with Book 2 is that it was...

    Shadowrun - Bug City

Bug City...we had a run where our team crashed in an plane in the center of it. All I remember is my severely wounded troll samurai on the front of a semi-tanker of pesticide, chainsaw in one hand and mmg in the other, heading straight for a nest. Good times.

Replacement PCs, how do you handle it?

So how you handle bringing in new or replacement characters in an ongoing campaign? Previous to the campaign that I just started, I usually just made the player make an equivalent level PC with recommended amount of gear listed in the DMG. This campaign, I'm considering starting them one or...

Age of Worms - Campaign tone?

Arg...I would love to be able to write it out for you, but I'm just not that skilled. You just have to watch it. Some other good examples would be Unforgiven or maybe Eastwood's "Man with No Name" westerns. Deadwood is grittier, but they have the same basic feel. hbo.com has episode...

Age of Worms - Campaign tone?

Possible Spoilers: I'm going to watch some episodes this weekend just to get a feel for it. I'll probably just choose characters from the show and use them as examples. Feral Dog gang: The thieves responsible for the norwiegan family's murder Balabar Smenk: Either Al or Cy Tolliver...

Age of Worms - Campaign tone?

I would say Cy Tolliver is worse than Al, but I might be biased because I love Al in the show. Al, although he is definitely evil, has a streak of goodness to him, that shows from time to time. Cy on the other hand, is just plain evil to the core. I totally agree about the veneer of civility...

David C. Sutherland III passed away (merged)

Very sad :( I still remember running around my yard fighting the monsters that I had seen in the original monster manual with a stick sword, before i even understood the stats besides the pictures. His art ignited my imagination, and began a love of this hobby, something that has been going...

An open "Thank you" to Erik Mona

You're doing a great job Erik! I love the new format and the online downloads for Dungeon. I may not use all the adventures, but I love reading them month to month. Age of Worms is some of the best adventure writing I've seen in a long time, can't wait for the next installments!

Iron Lore ... can't wait ... Any playtesters here?

Im curious at how much work it takes to set up a location from a GM perspective. I barely have enough time to finish a npc, much less a detailed location like that. And if this is easy to use, how easy would it be to use the location rules in a DnD or AE game?

Hehe...just look at the cost and weight of Pocket Secretaries (even in 3ed)...aka Palm Pilots :)

I actually think this is a pretty cool concept. If they make the decker something besides a legwork npc, Ill be very happy.

Yes, using the M&M system would require some handwaving on the money part, probably moving the reasons for doing runs to more roleplaying reasons, like influence with the corp, your contacts, or just for lifestyle perks. Less about actual cash numbers. To be honest, in the 10+ years that I...

    D&D 4E OT: Shadowrun 4E announced

This is almost exactly what our Decking became. The main issue i had with it is that it makes the whole cyberdeck totally worthless. But its certainly easier. We had to houserule rigging too, since the rules didn't mesh very well with standard combat. IMO, the rigging rules should have been...

    D&D 4E OT: Shadowrun 4E announced

4e SR: I hope they simplify and bring a consistent core system for all aspects of the game. Rigging and Matrix were effectively useless in 3ed. I remember having 3-4 hr combats in SR, that covered less than a minute in gametime. Thats a bit ridiculous in my opinion. The system was just not...

    List of Dungeon Rooms?

Does anyone know where I can find a comprehensive list of dungeon room descriptors? Just one word descriptions will work (i.e. Barracks, Guardroom, Torture Room, etc) Usually when I create a dungeon, I use a premade map (like one of Phineas Crow's) and then populate using my own key. However...
