    Oots 0730

Those aren't the only ones; Redcloak brought in all sorts of non-core characters trying to get information from O-Chull. (He goes so far as to mention Incarnum at one point.)

    Where'd the buttons go?

Missed that - and I am slightly less embarrassed about this than I would otherwise be since someone else apparently did too. It's certainly not as prominent as we have become accustomed to. No biggie, of course, given that the change is temporary and presumably for a good reason.

    Wayfarer's Step (3.5)

I see - so the original intention was for it to be self or ally, any time within the next minute, but this was deemed too powerful or otherwise problematic and later changed to self only, right away? (And what ended up being printed in the Player's Guide apparently has bits of both versions.)...

    Wayfarer's Step (3.5)

How is Wayfarer's Step supposed to work in 3.5? From the description, it seems like a simple spell for teleporting yourself short distances, but the stat block is very much at odds with that, and also seems internally contradictory. (I am using page 15 of the 3.5 Player's Guide as my sole...

    Where'd the buttons go?

This leaves no easy, obvious way to get from the front page to the forums. (There are plenty of Rube Goldberg-ish, not so obvious ways, but some form of link that just says "Forums" is, IMO, pretty essential.) Also, Weem, is there any way to put that image in an sblock or something? It's...

False dichotomies and other fallacies RPGers use

There are people who are professional football players, navy SEALs, Peter Gabriel former Magic: the Gathering world champions, or Peter Gabriel (okay, one person who is the latter) to name some claims I've seen people make online. That doesn't mean I automatically accept these claims as...

I quit 4e-DM after my first day.

As soon as he got to the dragonborn starting to eat people I came to the conclusion that this was a troll; both the story and the idea of blaming the game for this struck me as too absurd to take seriously. In particular, he explicitly says they've played together before, at least twice (since...

    Oots 0723 - Generally Relative

I think Celebrim was joking. Whether he was or not, this is the first time I can remember the going fan theory turning out to be right. And it was still worth it even though I was pretty sure what the reveal was going to be, just to see them bond over line delivery.

False dichotomies and other fallacies RPGers use

That would be the most likely reason, especially when they're made in what comes across as a surprisingly aggressive manner (albeit not a point where it warranted mod intervention, or anything like that). Other explanations are possible, but would require some, well, explanation.

OotS #721 - Are we getting paid enough?

The reasons for this have been made as plain and explicit as you could possibly ask for on-panel, near the end of what was to become book 4. This is not some mystery in need of resolution.

False dichotomies and other fallacies RPGers use

Multiple posters have claimed differently, and you have given no reason for doubting them. In the rest of your post even you admit that you have now verified beyond reasonable doubt that this is more than "folklore". Why, then, would you persist in making such a claim?

False dichotomies and other fallacies RPGers use

The fallacy fallacy is legitimate, though chrono22 hasn't quite characterized it correctly. It's the error of assuming that just because one particular argument for a given conclusion is fallacious, the conclusion must be false. This is easily disproven by simply observing that you can make up a...

    Short-range teleportation

Ah. I'd been assuming the Player's guide was redundant with the DM's guide. From 19 squares (19) to 20 (50) is kind of a big jump then, but I've seen stranger things.

    Short-range teleportation

In the 4E version of WotBS, how much damage does short-range teleportation, such as Fey Step, do to the user? Page 20 of the Campaign Guide makes it clear that it does some, at least by default, but as far as I can see, nowhere mentions a specific number for any distance under 100 feet.

    The Perfect Picture

Royo? Whether that's him or not, he draws some very strong, powerful women, some very juvenile cheescakey women, and some that are kinda both; a good source for stuff like this if you're willing to spend some time weeding.

    Weapon and Implement Expertise

That seems... well, first of all, like something that might be interesting but shouldn't be called D&D. There is at least one successful RPG built along these lines, Amber Diceless Roleplaying, that you might want to check out. But also, it's too wild a departure to really have anything to do...

    Weapon and Implement Expertise

Okay, with votes starting to slow down (though they're still going to be open for about a week yet), it has pretty consistently been: A little over half in favour of option 1 About two thirds as many votes for option 3 as for option 1 A minority of around 10% or less in favour of option 2...

    Oots 0715

I'd have captured Hayley too on suspicion of being Sabine, if I were the lizard guys and working from that poster. Female, check. Rogue, check.[1] Appears human, check. Unless of course they had some way of verifying that she wasn't a fiend. [1] They couldn't decisively verify this but if...

    Weapon and Implement Expertise

Okay, I don't have the PH3, so assume it's not a factor. What is this "Versatile Expertise" that everyone's talking about? If it's just what it sounds like, a version of the feats I'm asking about that works for whatever you want, then it's another example of what I'm asking about, and the...
