D&D General Hasbro CEO Says AI Integration Has Been "A Clear Success"

No, you’re absolutely right. Space data centers and lunar solar farms are terrible ideas, which is obvious to anyone who actually knows anything about space. Unfortunately, most people don’t know anything about space, and due to the aforementioned “AI makes you dumber” problem, a lot of people...

D&D General Hasbro CEO Says AI Integration Has Been "A Clear Success"

But if it’s generated by AI, does that make it a perpetrator-less crime?

I was trying to avoid saying that directly due to the forum rules, but it is true. Haha, fair point!

D&D General Hasbro CEO Says AI Integration Has Been "A Clear Success"

My comment was emotionally motivated and not helpful, sorry. To address water use and carbon output more seriously, you’re right that individual use of text or image generators is not really a significant factor. As with most things, it’s at the industrial scale that it becomes a serious...

D&D General Hasbro CEO Says AI Integration Has Been "A Clear Success"

Yeah, sorry for that comment. I edited it to delete it right away, but I guess you must have seen it in the brief window it was up. It was ill-conceived and not helpful for the conversation.

D&D General Hasbro CEO Says AI Integration Has Been "A Clear Success"

That’s the thing, AI is making all of us dumber. Your brain isn’t literally a muscle, but it is very much like a muscle in that it needs regular challenge not just to grow, but to avoid getting weaker. Everyone who doesn’t incessantly use AI can see it in that one guy at the office who uses it...

D&D General Hasbro CEO Says AI Integration Has Been "A Clear Success"

I have a much easier time believing that Chris Cocks and all of his “friends” use AI in everything they do than I have believing any of them actually play D&D. He’s a business executive. Those people are obsessed with AI.

D&D General Hasbro CEO Says AI Integration Has Been "A Clear Success"

I imagine it’s a lot of people’s bosses. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are more AI folks in upper management at the museum, because AI seems to appeal more to people in positions of power. But at least among my team there’s just the one. Turns out most, but not all, science educators...

Did it, though? The work you’d have to do reading the summary, finding the parts it got wrong, and re-writing them probably isn’t significantly less than the time it would have taken you to just write the summary yourself, and for whatever time it may have saved it will be a lower quality product.

D&D General Hasbro CEO Says AI Integration Has Been "A Clear Success"

The one guy at my workplace who’s weirdly pro-AI (there’s always one, in there?) made a PowerPoint for a session during our team’s annual professional development summit last year… In his defense it was closer to 10 slides than 100, but every one of them had obviously AI generated art, and I was...

    D&D 5E (2024) The Problem with Treantmonk's Hunter's Mark

I really like the idea of a ranger casting Hunter’s Mark through a target’s tracks, and I agree 5th level would be fine. Frankly, I think it would be fine even at 1st level.

D&D's Obelisk Plotline Was Supposed to Be Resolved in Vecna: Eve of Ruin

This article is very interesting. I had always suspected that 5e’s big-honking-adventure books were backdoor setting guides. Tyranny of Dragons and Princes of the Apocalypse don’t really fit the pattern, but they were the first two such adventure books for 5e. Starting with Out of the Abyss...

    D&D Movie/TV There’s a Baldur’s Gate TV Show Coming!

No, it definitely can handle the game. But given that it seems like the game is requiring the system to work very hard, I wouldn’t have assumed something “weaker” would have been able to handle it. But, as established, I don’t really know how computers work. Apparently “power” is not really a...

    D&D Movie/TV There’s a Baldur’s Gate TV Show Coming!

More tech-savvy people than me have told me the game is poorly optimized, especially on consoles. To be honest I don’t really know what that means, but I do know that when I play it, the console’s fans sound like they’re auditioning for a second job as helicopter blades, and the frame rate drops...

D&D General Why is the multi-classing spell slot math so weird?

you don’t see the downside to letting a level 9 fighter put 1 level in wizard and suddenly getting 10 levels’ worth of spellcasting progression? When that’s 90% of the benefit of playing a wizard in the first place? No one would ever have any reason to put more than a single level into wizard...

D&D General Why is the multi-classing spell slot math so weird?

That’s exactly why you can’t round up. If you have 3 levels in rogue or fighter, that’s evenly divisible by 3, so it doesn’t matter what direction you round. If you have 2 levels, rounding up in Rogue or Fighter would give you a caster level you can’t have yet. If you’ve sunk 4 or 5 levels into...

D&D General Why is the multi-classing spell slot math so weird?

That’s because 5e tries to sound like it’s written in natural language, but actually uses its language very technically. It’s really hard to tell when a word or phrase is being used in its literal English meaning vs. when it’s being used as a jargon term with a specific game mechanical meaning...

    D&D Movie/TV There’s a Baldur’s Gate TV Show Coming!

That’s good to know! I don’t actually know what the switch 2’s specs are like (and frankly my tech knowledge is insufficient to understand computer specifications anyway), but “between PS4 and PS5” just sounds like it would have a very difficult time running software the PS5 itself already...
