What Would You Get From This Pile?

Are the Boxed Sets/Dungeoneer's/Wilderness Survival Guide worth a trip? Here's what I found: Boxed Sets: Set 3: Companion Rules (roughly 36 copies plus some I missed that was at the outskirts; box is shrink-wrapped) Expert Rules (around 6 copies plus whatever I missed in the outskirts --...

What Would You Get From This Pile?

If you want I can buy the stuff you want and keep it at home until you get here. =) It's really the shipping that's killing me. Edit: Actually if you're just in Singapore, I can probably just ship it to you. Will check how much it costs to ship there. Unless you know, you're planning to empty...

What Would You Get From This Pile?

    1) Yes they're in English. The Philippines is an English-speaking country. 2) Last weekend until they run out of stocks. 3) I was checking Cathay Pacific and a one-way trip (couldn't get the two-way trip to work properly) from San Francisco on Economy class is $721.00 How they ended up there...

What Would You Get From This Pile?

Ah. Saw Expert D&D and Companion D&D in the pile. The rest, sadly, no (hopefully I am mistaken and I will spot some hidden when I return there).

What Would You Get From This Pile?

Having never played 1e AD&D (I'm age 26), what does BECMI stand for? I might be able to get a list by the weekend because the owner doesn't have a list and I will have to manually scrounge every nook and cranny and list down what they actually have. I can guarantee you several dozen survival...

What Would You Get From This Pile?

Just got back from the store. 1) Alas, no Planescape modules (although there is a fiction paperback of Planescape). 2) I took a closer look at the boxed sets. No basic but there's intermediate and advanced. =) 3) I made a mistake with the pricing of the modules. It's $2 (roughly) for two...

What Would You Get From This Pile?

Unfortunately I can't eBay them -- I don't have a credit card and we were banned from PayPal for quite some time (during Christmas they allowed outgoing PayPal from our country but not incoming). It's also the same problem that prevents me from buying stuff for you people and mailing it to you...

What Would You Get From This Pile?

The exact address (in case you have relatives there) is at Shopesville Arcade, San Juan City, Metro Manila. It's located at the ground floor, beside Mercury Drug. It's not in Manila city per se but it is part of "Metro Manila" which covers most of the urban cities in the Philippines.

What Would You Get From This Pile?

I'm from the Philippines and one of the defunct "gaming" stores (it's part toy store and part TSR distributor) is selling its inventory. The boxes and modules are going for around $2.00 while you can get any three TSR paperbacks for the same price (they have Dragons of Spring Dawning but alas...

No spell resistance vs. Orb spells? Why?

It never existed. The "Sudden" feats were applied only to the PHB metamagic feats, with Sudden Quicken having the most prerequisites.

No spell resistance vs. Orb spells? Why?

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. I meant that creatures don't usually have death ward on. Mind blank yes, death ward no. Of course the undead type are immune to negative energy so that's already a bunch of creatures that's immune to it. But aside from them, few creatures in the MM have...

No spell resistance vs. Orb spells? Why?

Mind Blank, yes. Death Ward, not really (barring undead). At epic levels there's as long list of immunities (mind-affecting, necromancy, disintegration, polymorphing, etc.) including most energy types except sonic and high resistances to fire at the very least.

No spell resistance vs. Orb spells? Why?

Uh, even I can't defend the merits of Acid Fog based on damage output alone. There's a big difference between 22d6 now and 22d6 over time. (If I'm going to cast Acid Fog, it's for its other benefits. The damage is nice but it's honestly not comparable to everything else either Conjuration or...

No spell resistance vs. Orb spells? Why?

My qualm with quoting selection advantage is that it's just that: selection advantage. It's not like it's the Psion kineticist subschool where you get to choose which element it is at casting. The only real class to benefit from it is the Warmage (who gets all of it and casts spells...

No spell resistance vs. Orb spells? Why?

Yes, I get the benefits of a ranged touch attack (let's throw in the possibility of double damage of crit). Out of curiosity, so if the Orb spells weren't touch attacks but rather resolved like bursts (save for half, still single target), in your opinion would they still be as broken? For the...

No spell resistance vs. Orb spells? Why?

If the auto-kill argument is something we can drop, then I'm glad. It's one less thing to debate about. Which was my point with my previous posts. Second, I don't want to get into an argument which is overall better: a ranged touch attack or a saving throw against a spell. The former is an...

What is the standard ability score set? Are most games playing too high?

My only qualm with a lack of "high" stats is that some classes are more dependent on them. I mean for most of the PHB classes, I'm fine with 25-points. When it comes to the Paladin and the Monk however, they really need good stats in a lot of attributes, even if it's just 14, 14, 14, 10, 14, 14...

No spell resistance vs. Orb spells? Why?

I also feel the same way about re-stating about everything I said. If his argument is that it's imbalanced because a) it deals 15d6 points of damage, b1) it's a ranged touch attack/auto-hit and b2) it has no save, and c) that because of the right metamagic feats it's an instant-kill, then I'm...

No spell resistance vs. Orb spells? Why?

It seems I imagined the [Evil] descriptor. As a player I don't want to cast evil spells for roleplaying purposes (unless it's the Protection from ... spells).

No spell resistance vs. Orb spells? Why?

Missed your last part, edited my previous post to cover the ground on Twin Spell. Checking the SRD, it's not listed there, but I could vaguely remember that Enervation had the [evil] subtype. Will check the PHB when I get home.
