Pathfinder 1E Pathfinder BETA - Some Sizzle, Not Much Steak

Glassjaw: One thing to bear in mind though are the design goals of Pathfinder RPG (it's in the Introduction page). Your assessment may be correct but the question is, what that what Pathfinder promised to do? Failure to Address Core Issues: The problem with the "problems of 3.xx" is that...

Merric's thoughts on "Against the Giants" (DDM)

Rust Monster will be in the next expansion. (Edit: Source http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/4dnd/20080815) As for Aquatic-themed monsters, for me that's probably unlikely mainly because aquatic-themed games aren't as popular (nor are there DDM maps that really support aquatic themes)...

    Healing Strike

Check p.277 of the PHB. Marked creatures get a -2 penalty to attacks on creatures that didn't mark them.

    Healing Strike

The mark isn't a drawback. Theoretically, you use Healing Strike so that not only do you heal an ally, but the opponent also gets penalties for attacking that wounded ally of yours.

    4E is unacceptable

First off, you're entitled to your own opinion. Some games work for some people, others don't. Having said that, I want some things clarified. RPGA - I don't see how the present RPGA is any different from the RPGA of the past few years. Incompleteness of the Books - There's another thread on...

Pathfinder 1E D&D4 and Pathfinder can coexist

Both can co-exist. Even during the days of 3.5, we had alternate systems like Osiric and True20. I don't see how any of this is different. In the end, Paizo will succeed on its own merits rather than WotC's. The same goes for WotC.

    DDI for $7.95

Below is a chart of instances on when I think a PDF would be preferable (left side) and when a print product is advantageous (right side). Of course it bears noting that not everything is rated equally and some people will prioritize one item over another. Not included is the quality of the...

    DDI for $7.95

Usually at the end of the month, when the magazines get compiled. Having said that, I expect the earlier releases to have errata while the latter of the month releases not so much (less feedback time, less time to input necessary errata). They're not. Could be considered a failure on WotC's...

    DDI for $7.95

From the Gleemax Boards (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?p=16523010), answers by Gamer Radio Zero: "If you pay ahead for a year, your price is locked in for the extent of that time period, for that level of subscription. (in this case, the web-content option)" "We will of course...

    DDI for $7.95

They are cheaper at what they're planning to sell it right now. It's around 50% of what the magazines costs, plus you're getting some other applications. Again, as I said in my original reply, if you don't like the adventures, that's perfectly understandable and it's as simple as not...

    DDI for $7.95

Yes. I think it's pretty much an admission that some of the applications, like the virtual tabletop, still has a bunch of kinks.

    DDI for $7.95

I think what you're failing to take into account is that for some people, PDFs are superior to printed products. Print for me is one of the more archaic methods of publishing. That's not to say I don't like print. But PDFs do have advantages over printed products, although that's best left for...

    DDI for $7.95

I suspect they will raise the price when they roll out more stuff beyond what's prsently promised. However, things being what they are, I don't think that'll happen in a year's time. Which is only fair: you're paying more because you're getting more. It is common practice however that you will...

    DDI for $7.95

I don't think the problem with errata is implementation but rather deliberation (whether to actually errata something and what the solutoin is). The Dragon/Dungeon articles errata seem to have been caught when they've been compiled. Read the press releae on the status of these other items.

4e tactical advice . . . what is out there?

Unfortunately, none yet (maybe the D&D for Dummies book might help when the new one gets released?). In the meantime, your best bet are the Wizard Forums, ENWorld, and the podcast Radio Free Hommlet.

    Whoops- WotC does it again

Also, a similar product was released for 3.5. In fact, as far as I can tell, the only things that have changed are the cover design and the color of the dice (green to blue). Why are you just complaining about it now?
