D&D 5E (2024) Beast Master attack sacrificed for beast attack and Dual Wielder

A feat for a bonus action minor attack is quite poor. Polearm Master gives you that and you don't need to take a fighting style to add your proficiency bonus to the damage. You also get the reaction attack. For a dual wielder I would always take Mage Slayer over the feat or even Defensive...

D&D 5E (2024) Beast Master attack sacrificed for beast attack and Dual Wielder

Fair enough but then they both need to be light weapons to be using Nick. A feat for a bonus action 1d6 attack is quite poor (need the fighting style too). Most characters will already have something better and if not, other feats provide something better. In the case of this question I don't...

D&D 5E (2024) Beast Master attack sacrificed for beast attack and Dual Wielder

You can do that without the feat. Look at the light weapon property. The only difference is that 1 weapon doesn't need to be light. It is not a good feat.

D&D 5E (2024) Beast Master attack sacrificed for beast attack and Dual Wielder

I don't think the feat does what you think it does. It just lets you use a non-light weapon. You will want a scimitar for Nick so you can attack with the short sword without a bonus action.

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

The important part here is not knowing whether there is only 1 target but what narratively constitutes a success. A successful roll should result in a success in the narrative. Just 1 roll (or 1 roll per player for group checks). Extended challenges where multiple rolls are required are...

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

I agree that #3 is a good way to do it, and really THE way to do it. But it took me a few days of thinking about it before settling on it to be sure I wasn't missing anything because the rules are poorly worded. That doesn't necessarily mean they are bad rules, just poorly worded because #3...

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

There is one aspect of the rules I highly dislike. That the roll happens first and the result is noted for the future. So if the character hides at the start of the exploration scene and then later on there is a question of whether they are found they get to use the check from long ago which was...

    D&D 5E (2024) Thoughts on Stealth and D&D2024

I've decided that the intent is to allow characters to move out of cover and not to then be automatically seen unless the creature has an ability like blindsight that allows them to 'see' in 360. It is poorly worded but it works well when I apply my judgment to it in game. I prefer this way to...

Unearthed Arcana Kiss of Mephistopheles: Unbalancing?

Isn't worth the invocation to me. It's an investment into fireball which is not always the best choice for the spell slot. When it is, you're just getting 2 attacks on it. Additionally, the constraint on the fireball will make it worse as it can't be placed between creatures or behind or to the...

D&D General Drow & Orcs Removed from the Monster Manual

There are limited pages. If you are adding in pages you need to take some out.

D&D General Drow & Orcs Removed from the Monster Manual

That one didn't show up for me but I'm sure I didn't miss it. (: I think a little from column A and a lot from column B for me.

D&D General Drow & Orcs Removed from the Monster Manual

What are you removing? And how is a generic human more flavourful than a pirate? Or the flip side, why is there a specific role or profession limited to just humans? All humanoids can pursue the same roles. That is great design.

D&D General Drow & Orcs Removed from the Monster Manual

These changes to the way creature types are used has broadened the creative space. The only humanoids in the MM are the NPC groups - mage, pirate, tough, etc. This means that when there are orcs in an adventure the writer needs to specify what their professions/roles are instead of just 'orc'...

D&D General Drow & Orcs Removed from the Monster Manual

Yeah and soul vessel is a much better way to communicate the idea as it can take many forms. Importantly they have a chart with many ideas of what it could be. Coming up with what it is for the individual lich is the most important part and they did it.

D&D General Drow & Orcs Removed from the Monster Manual

I have viewed the point of Frankenstein is that it is the audience (with the villagers representing them) who are the real villains. That is the horror of the story for me, it reveals to us our own darkness.

D&D General Drow & Orcs Removed from the Monster Manual

The worst part, so I've read, is that they edited out her pubic hair. That does sexualize the scene.

D&D General Drow & Orcs Removed from the Monster Manual

Words aren't just sounds. People aren't offended about a sound. They are offended by sounds that are threats. I think words carry meaning that is lost on you because those meanings just aren't important to you. You have told us here that you 'could care less' and are taking this opportunity to...

D&D General Drow & Orcs Removed from the Monster Manual

It is in line with how they have designed the monsters. It would be weird if Drow and Orcs had their own entries. The PHB abilities are enough. What do the 2014 orcs have? Bonus action dash. They still have that. So what is the point to having and entire entry? We already have lots of pictures...

    D&D 5E (2024) Lycanthropes in the MM

Is that fun? For me the 'immune to normal weapons' myth would come about because were-creatures are much more powerful than typical townsfolk. When the townsfolk go to kill them without silvered weapons they all die and so they are functionally immune. Also, myths tend to take on extremes like...

    D&D 5E (2024) Lycanthropes in the MM

My simple adjustment is to have silvered weapons do an additional d6 to them. It means townsfolk will want to have some silvered weapons around to deal with them without getting into annoying and anti-climactic situations when the PCs face them without silver.
