    D&D 5E (2014) We Would Hate A BG3 Campaign

Um, to get off my hobby horse for a second, World of Warcraft most definitely has dwarves?

    D&D 5E (2014) We Would Hate A BG3 Campaign

I think a thing that tables have a hard time pulling off is talking their way out of combat. BG3 does this to great effect, especially in act 2. I’ve never really seen it done otherwise. Thoughts?

    D&D 5E (2014) We Would Hate A BG3 Campaign

I don’t think you could adequately pull off the Dribbles quest line at the table. The whole Bhaal cult thing seems next to impossible to put on the table. Thoughts?

    D&D 5E (2014) We Would Hate A BG3 Campaign

Moonrise Towers would be tricky to do as well, if done right. Mixture of dungeon crawl and massive set piece battles. Would need a really good DM.

    D&D 5E (2014) We Would Hate A BG3 Campaign

I really don’t see how you could do the last battle in the upper city via tabletop, just too many moving pieces.

    D&D 5E (2014) We Would Hate A BG3 Campaign

Man, I was originally excited to talk about why BG3 wouldn’t make a good DnD module in 2024, but instead people are arguing about Dragonborn? Cmon, what year is it, 2008?

    D&D 5E (2014) Do we need a Fifth Edition Revival (5ER)?

I run Kobold Press written modules almost exclusively at this point. They have some really good stuff! And actually care about lore! Weird, I know.

WotC: 'We made a mistake when we said an image not AI'

Getting harder and harder to defend “ai art” as anything but theft.

    D&D 5E (2014) We Would Hate A BG3 Campaign

Having just beaten BG3 last night, there is no way at all that WotC would publish an adventure like that—why too complex and morally gray a story. Can you imagine current day WotC, which is terrified of an always online small minority, allowing you to slaughter the entire Druid’s Grove like you...

D&D General Has Sensitivity and Inclusion gone too far?

Nothing constructive can come out of this conversation, regardless of your views on the subject. Shut it down.

What are you reading in 2024?

It’s good, just finished the introduction. He’s taking an ax, cutting up everything that has come before, and reassembling it (with an additional ton of new research) into an astounding synthesis. Wickham really is one of the best academic history writers out there, which is saying something haha

What are you reading in 2024?

I recently was sent a copy of a book entitled The Donkey and the Boat: Reinterpreting the Mediterranean Economy, 950-1180. A brand new comparative study of the regional economies of the Mediterranean, with an indepth look at Egypt, Tunisia, Sicily, Byzantium, Islamic Spain and Portugal, and...

Ben Riggs: 'The Golden Age of TTRPGs is Dead'

Bad writing is the unforgivable sin. This is some real bad writing.

D&D General Would you buy an AI-generated Castle Greyhawk "by" Gary Gygax?" Should you?

You can’t keep moving the goalposts. You mentioned Gary Gygax and Greyhawk, not a music group with living members. I, and many others, have given you our responses. I don’t think many people are interested in arguing with you about this, or even discussing.

D&D General Would you buy an AI-generated Castle Greyhawk "by" Gary Gygax?" Should you?

Hell no, I wouldn’t defile the dead in that way. Steal from the dead, so the living can make a quick buck? So I can pretend to get enjoyment or an emotional high from a computer pretending to be a dead man? Disgusting, immoral, vile. It’s like people haven’t learned the lessons of Antigone.

What should a Bard be? Glorious.

D&D 5E (2014) Is the Forgotten Realms experiencing a new Golden Age now that its NOT the default 5e setting anymore?

I genuinely like Forgotten Realms, was amazing at how beautifully and faithfully rendered it was in BG3, and hope it continues to thrive in the future. (But seriously, there are some really deep lore cuts in BG3 that are just amazing.)

WotC Updates D&D's AI Policy After YouTuber's False Accusations

To each their own, but I think you are making a distinction in what I said that simply isn’t there, and making a mountain out of a molehill. I don’t appreciate being called out in the manner you did over something so inconsequential as well. Have a good evening, happy holidays.
