D&D 5E (2024) Half Race Appreciation Society: Half Elf most popular race choice in BG3

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that people thinking making everyone morally bland is “adding nuance”, but I am. I’m reminded that DnD WoTC style isn’t marketed to anyone over the age of 35 hahah

D&D 5E (2024) Half Race Appreciation Society: Half Elf most popular race choice in BG3

There is legitimately nothing nuanced or subtle about any of this—it’s blatantly focus tested to appeal to a certain demographic that finds nuance and complexity morally abhorrent lol

Musing on Conan themes in RPGs

Good musings on Conan. I especially like the savagery vs civilization conceit, and think if you could balance it well it could lead to a lot of fun story telling.

    Grade the Modiphius 2d20 System

I have run multiple games of Star Trek Adventures and the system matches the theme extraordinarily well. Haters gonna hate hate hate, but STA is really good, so just shake it off, shake it off.

Best Forgotten Realms books (any edition)

Anybody have any strong thoughts on Cloak and Dagger? Still usable for 5e stuff?

D&D 5E (2014) BG3 is #2 on Steam Global Top Sellers list again, beating Starfield

I believe there is the promise of eventual steam workshop support. I won’t muck around with mods till then haha

D&D 5E (2014) BG3 is #2 on Steam Global Top Sellers list again, beating Starfield

Is there steam workshop support for the game?

    Is "GM Agency" A Thing?

Reynard, you ask good questions. In this instance though, I think “agency” is one of those words that, through overuse, has become practically useless. Not your fault, but with no common understanding of where to even begin with the concept, there’s no real place for a conversation to go, imo.

Digging Into Phandelver and Below: The Shattered Obelisk

Looking forward to running this with my group, subbing in a couple of Kobold Press monsters here and there. We love that freaky deaky crap.

    D&D 5E (2014) Will Baldur's Gate 3 Change D&D?

Use Gale or other area of effect casters. That’s how I won it.

    Unpopular opinions go here

This thread has just become another “I didn’t comment” in another thread thing. Pure evidence, if anymore was needed, that some people who comment here take themselves too seriously and can’t stand people with opinions different than ones they hold themselves. For example; if you’re the type of...

What Licensed RPG Do You Wish Used A Different System?

Please, I implore you, get over yourself. “Merits challenge” lol

What Licensed RPG Do You Wish Used A Different System?

And it feels affected and false as all get out. I’m sorry that you felt the need to correct my personal opinion.

    D&D 5E (2014) Will Baldur's Gate 3 Change D&D?

Only if they included more story than the previous games. I mean, I would LOVE IWD3, but those games were more combat simulators than BG 1 and 2, if memory serves correctly.

D&D 5E (2014) Player consent required -spoilers for new adv book

lol this thread is going exactly as you would expect it to. This is the type of thing that happens when you hire more consultants than copyeditors. WoTC requiring stuff is lame as hell, but you should always have a session 0 to let your players know what MIGHT happen or come up in the game, to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Will Baldur's Gate 3 Change D&D?

We will most certainly see another DnD game in the BG3 engine. Whether that’s a different setting or not all depends on how much money Hasbro throws at Larien. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was Eberon, but it could also be Planescape (but it’ll probably be forgotten realms again.)

    D&D 5E (2014) Will Baldur's Gate 3 Change D&D?

I would agree, but I think it should be pointed out that the goblinoids in BG3 owe a lot to Warhammer’s Greenskins in terms of manner and type. Personally, I love it.

    D&D 5E (2014) Will Baldur's Gate 3 Change D&D?

second post, same thread, forgive me (for beating my same dead horse over and over again) BG3 made dueger and gith cool again, I hope we see this reflected in WoTC dnd in the future cause otherwise that’s an incredible lost opportunity to be cool.
