Weird, as I play as half-elves in every game I play because I’m mixed race and I like feeling represented in the games I play. The idea that nobody plays them is just you presenting your own bias as truth, and it is incredibly offensive to me.
I really don’t see the need to cheer on a billion dollar company, nor the moral necessity to wish them success. I do hope 5.5 fails financially because Hasbro is an awful company, and I don’t feel bad about saying that.
I will support my hobby by spending my money supporting smaller projects...
lol chill dude, I’m not killing the “fandom” by refusing to bow down and lick Hasbro’s boot. As a consumer, I’m choosing to spend my money elsewhere and I’m encouraging others to do likewise.
I wasn’t asked, but I found it superior in that I can just plop and play—boom, excellent encounter with just enough backstory that I can flesh out if I want. The book just oooooozes practical creativity.
We’re really stretching the definition of niche here. There is a consistent refusal among some people to acknowledge how popular Sanderson’s works are and how much money they make. It’s just silly at this point.
I say this respectfully, because I generally enjoy your comments here in the forums, but I have to ask, have you looked at Sanderson’s website? Or YouTube? His website has a whole section on “where to start” for folks new to his works. Where do I start? | Brandon Sanderson
His YouTube also has...
Very strange to turn a post about Lorraine Williams to a commentary on genocide of indigenous Americans. That’s an outrageous move and a frankly offensive non sequitur. It isn’t worth continuing this conversation—you didn’t engage with a single thing I said, you just took a single phrase and...
There’s a remarkable amount of apologetics being spouted here about an objectively terrible businessperson. The lawsuits against GDW and Mayfair Games was an act of a monopoly attempting to strangle smaller competitors—a move which had lasting, consequentially terrible impact upon the entire...
I had been considering buying it (preordered it too), but I realized recently I just don’t enjoy playing 5e—the game moves far too slowly for my tastes. The additional character options at 1st level in the new book will slow down the game even further. I’ll pass and spend my money elsewhere.
I ran a DCC game this past weekend with the Monster Overhaul, and it ran swimmingly. Monster Overhaul doesn’t incorporate to hit bonuses, so I took their Hd divided by two and round down in most instances. Worked well.
4, 2, 5, 6, 3
In that order. Can’t rank 1, cause it’s the OG and I last played it in elementary school. Still have very vivid memories playing it though.
