D&D General The Monsters Know What They're Doing ... Are Unsure on 5e24

I'd accept that an adult conversation was being had IF it's not always phrased as if the compromise is "you will play what I allow and how I want you to or you will find yourself in the outside looking in."

I'm going to say this would be a difficult task for an experienced DM. It's probably not going to work in the hands of a new DM.

The existence of "infant so tender and mild" implies the existence of chewy, spicy baby.

So the fact that it was relation for a RACIALLY MOTIVATED LYNCHING doesn't factor at all? That nobody in the community tried to stop them is a tacit approval of such behavior. I won't say more due to the politics rule on this board. I didn't realize your setting was Eberron where magical...

So something like the Original, 3e version of Dragonborn? I start as a human, am part of a special magical ritual where I'm blessed by the Dragon God and gain draconic elements (scales, claws, horns) to my appearance as well as the regular Dragonborn species traits? That's fair.

Unarmored Defense. Every Character adds their Primary Ability Score to 10+ Dexterity. So a Fighter is 10 + Str + Dex, a Cleric is 10 + Wis + Dex, etc. Considering you are effectively overhauling the whole class system to remove magic (and thus a lot of the magical bonuses that come from spells...

I legitimately wondered if there was any exception to the curated list. My players bring me 3pp options and I will review it and make a call on it. I can't know everything that exists, so I review them and make a call. I just wondered if you did the same or if the list was finite and unchanging.

WHat if I bought you the book? Now can I use it?

So if a player came to you with an option from a brand new book (say, a new subclass) and asked "can I play this?" You would have to say no because if you allowed it, you would have to allow Tortle gunslingers as well? Corollary question: how through is your list and how often do you update it?

Serious with a small sprinkle of snark. Let's review where this conversation stemmed. A poster declared that in his game a tabaxi would be lynched by locals who think he is related to a raksasha. Another poster made a comment that if they went to lynch him, they would burn the village down...

If you have that much lore for the silly elf game to justify killing a PC tiefling, I don't know what to tell you.

Your premise begins with the notion that somehow everyone knows the PCs are guilty. Apparently the PCs were dumb enough to do it in plain sight, leave witnesses, and announced their names as they did it. And everyone around saw the burned wreckage and knew it wasn't orc raiders or the cow...

Aka you will what I want and how I want. Thank you for proving my intuition correct. I wouldn't touch your game with a 11 foot pole. I've played in games like yours and I know how it ends.

I assume the government also takes care of the powerful monsters and villains as well, making sure the community is safe and doesn't need adventurers. Or do they just sit around and monitor the player characters? Sometimes crime happens and no one gets punished. Villages burn and no one is held...

I mean, I tend not to have players who burn down villages but I also don't set up lynch mobs because they are an orc or tiefling or... Tabaxi...

Dang. I KNEW I smelled museum tourism! Burn down a village because they tried to lynch a fellow PC and suddenly 20th level archmages with gank you when you sleep. Teach those players to mess with my setting! It always starts with "I have a carefully considered vision of my world" and it ends...

Yeah, my love of strongly themed campaigns (I've done pirates, paranormal investigators, crime syndicate and will be starting a Western) can somewhat override limitations because the theme is fun. For example, the paranormal investigators had people play a dhampir, hexblood and reborn along with...

Correct. Which is one of the many reasons I gave up homebrewing for a rotating series of settings depending on the game. The Internet has made finding a game easier, buts it's not order a pizza easy. I live in the suburbs of a major metropolitan area and I don't see a large call for open...
