WotC Vecna Eve of Ruin: Everything You Need To Know

Looking at the art now posted by the OP, is that Acererak I spy??

D&D General need help developing an adventure: Gneiss City Grit: A Rock Noir Mystery

A classic opening scene for a noir is the moment the instigating NPC walks into the detective agency and tries to hire them. Insight checks, intrigue, mystery right out the gate. If you want action, may I suggest you open with a chase scene! The story begins with the characters having already...

    D&D 5E (2014) Humblewood: A New Third-Party Setting on D&D Beyond

Humblewood, Drakkenheim, and Etharis all have one thing in common, in that they cover genres and tropes that current D&D products don't quite hit: cozy-core and dark fantasy. I think future DDB collaborations will focus on genre-heavy products, with unique settings, and professional-level art. I...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D: Beyond Universes ( = crossovers?).

My guess: Adventure Time. I could see WB making more deals with them after Rick and Morty. And Adventure Time is D&D adjacent, in line with the other crossovers.

Dang. So close. Just needed to switch around MM and DMG

D&D 5E (2014) I want my players to ignore class in character creation

Have you ever thought about using the Cypher System from Monte Cook? It's a simple, genre-agnostic system that does exactly what you are describing.

D&D 5E (2014) I want my players to ignore class in character creation

Cool idea, but I would be careful that your free-form approach doesn't ironically make you a more controlling DM. If they wanna know what a Warlock does, just tell them. It might inspire them to springboard into other ideas, or clarify what they really want.

    D&D 5E (2024) Playtest 8 Monk Discussion

Well, that's always been the Monk's problem: standard array and MAD don't go together very well. I let my players use a more flexible point buy system, or otherwise roll stats. Either way, I generally help them find a way to get at least a 20 and an 18 (or even another 20) by level 10...

    D&D 5E (2024) Playtest 8 Monk Discussion

Why so low? The Monk can take ASIs to get both DEX and WIS up to 20, and then have an AC of 20 without magic items, right?

D&D 5E (2014) [Review] Valda's Spire of Secrets is my favorite expansion in all of 5E

The book is amazing. The closest thing there is to a 5e PH2. My friends and I are are starting a campaign with primarily materials from this book, and so far, it is a TON of fun.

D&D 5E (2014) Why is animate dead considered inherently evil?

Doesn't the spellcaster eventually lose control over the monster? Then you literally have a flesh-eating zombie or murderous skeleton wandering around. Maybe some individual Necromancers could be trusted to animate responsibly, but widespread use of these spells would definitely lead to a bunch...

WotC [Updated!] Hasbro Laying Off 1,100 Employees

It's crazy, because some of these people were just recently interviewed on DnD's YouTube channel.

D&D General Why Is D&D Successful?

Don't get me wrong, I always loved 3e. And it's difficult to learn. That's not necessarily a criticism, just an observation about its complexity. Any RPG system has to find a balance between simplicity and completeness, between flexibility and consistency. I think 5e has become popular because...

D&D General Why Is D&D Successful?

I agree that 5e's design is a big part of it. I remember introducing some people to 3e back in the day but it never stuck, because it was too complicated. 5e, for its shortcomings, is incredibly elegant and easy to learn.

    D&D 5E (2024) The 2024 Core D&D Rulebooks Are Coming In May

Yeah, I think the PHB could come out that day. But not the DMG and MM too, right?

Nah, they already said no printers could handle that.
