    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Direct Will Talk About Project Sigil & Future of D&D on Aug 27th

I would actually combine monster books with books that have planar info. A book about fiends, where the first half is about the lower planes, detailing lore and locations, and the second half is bestiary. Celestials and upper planes. Fey and Feywild/Domains of Delight. Elementals and Inner...

D&D 5E (2024) Weird invisibility loophole saves Hiding but ruins the spell: Lose the Condition's benefits without losing the Condition

The poor design is not the Invisibility Condition itself, but rather conflating Invisible and Hidden. The confusion and arguing it has caused on the internet is evidence enough RAI (and common sense)will need to be used rather than RAW. Unless, of course, there's something clarifying in the DMG...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 PHB/DMG/MM art/layout: like or dislike?

I've had the book in my hands for a few weeks now, and I say, that the layout is the best it's ever been. I like the art, and I actually don't think it is overwhelming. What I really like is how intentional they were about a subclass fitting on a single page (the majority of them), and pages...

    D&D 5E (2024) PHB 2024 - General Impressions and Random Things I Noticed

General Impressions: I've read the thing cover to cover now. The highlight of the book is the layout and user experience (best of any PHB I ever read), and the art (fantastic). The core philosophy of the book seems to be filtering more things through key words and named actions, like Influence...

I thought that too, until I read the new PHB. It mentions Dark Sun conspicuously, along with the other published settings. It's the only setting mentioned in the PHB that has not been published yet

Solely based on reviews and reception, they might give up that style. But I think both of those sold very well, and sales are probably more important to them.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Direct Will Talk About Project Sigil & Future of D&D on Aug 27th

My predictions: Red Wizards of Thay/Venger campaign, Undead-themed splatbook, Bloomburrow setting, Dark Sun slipcase, and/or adventure anthology based on the World Tree

    D&D 5E (2024) I just got a 2024 PHB From Gen Con. AMA!

When it comes to grids and distances, I generally use a "close enough" rule

    D&D 5E (2024) I just got a 2024 PHB From Gen Con. AMA!

Reading through this and trying to spot the differences, I realize how many little rules from 2014 I have forgotten.

Not that I could find, other than the grapple rules. Interestingly, I noticed a small unrelated detail when looking at the movement rules: diagonal movement no longer costs extra speed.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Rules Oddities (Kibbles’ Collected Complaints)

I believe that "The first time" qualifier applies to the entire phrase "a creature enters its web on a turn or starts its turn there" and not separately to the two parts. In other words, it only makes the save once, because there's only one "first time" fulfilled by either entering the web on a...

    D&D 5E (2024) I just got a 2024 PHB From Gen Con. AMA!

I would rule yes at my table. After all, there's no rule against casting a cantrip as an action and then a different one as a bonus action on the same turn

I think the eldritch knight ability only lets you replace one attack with a cantrip.

There's no actual specific guidance about older subclasses (unlike older species and backgrounds, which get a sidebar). Older subclasses would get resolved from the wording of the feature, as far as I can tell. At level 3, you get the subclass feature, not earlier. I think the last sentence of...
